and enthusiasm is needed
to ward off any future
doctor shortages in

A.lthough the problem
has 'not reached drastic
proportions yet, the

Presently, Clinton and
the surrounding area is
serviced by four doctors,
Dr. Bill Harrett, Dr.
Frank Newland, Dr.
Brian Baker and Dr.
R.W. Street. Several
specialists also come in to
service the areas.
In an attempt to keep
Clinton's head above
water, council has ac-
cepted the fl9od and fill
line mapping prepared by
the Ausable Bayfield
Conservation Authority.
Council was told by an
Authority representative
that basically Floodplain
Policy will compliment,
not destroy existing land
and their uses. The plan
will prevent building on
watershed areas were

same time --attempt to
protect the structures
that already exist in those
areas.

Nearly 1,000 people
were thrilled last Friday
night when the National
League Oldtimers
displayed som fine
hockey skills on their way
to defeating the Clinton

Even though many of
them have gray hair and
don't exhibit the same
speed.they did on Hockey

still plenty of skill left in
most of them, par-

(November 29) Thanks to quick thinking by the Clinton volunteer firefighters and em-

be removed from the dryer in a five hour operation. (News -Record photo)

at a ratepayers' meeting
on November 12.
Oh NMieitiber 21,
Clinton firemen and
"Fleming Feed Mill
Workers fought a fire in
one of the Feed Mill's
giant corn dryers.
The men were forced to
clean out about 65 tons of
corn in order to get at the'
fire in the middle of the
five -storey structure.
The fire came near the
end of the corn harvest
with about 95 per cent of
the crop harvested
A wet fall, combined
with immature corn, has
left the grain corn with a
high moisture content,
'resulting in high drying
costs and a slow don
through the dryers of
corn, some as high as 44
per cent. It must be down
to 15 per cent for storage.
Because of the delay a
week ago in moving the
corn out of the area by
ship, many elevators
were plugged full and
sbme had to refuge
anymore wet corn until
the backlog was cleared.
