Crescent, Stratford, was
appointed to the position
of principal at St. Mary's
School, Goderich,
Monday night by the
Huron -Perth County
Roman CathOlic Separate
School Board.
He has been acting
principal since
November „J9 and will
continue in that capacity
until his appointment
becomes effective
January 1, 1980.
Prior to the ap-
pointment he was a
resource teacher in the.
area of curriculum.,
working Out of the board
office in Dublin. He has
his B.A. and Master of
Education from the
Ontario Institute of.
Studies in. Education in
Toronto.
He replaces Betty L.
Clark who had been the
principal, but had asked
for reassignment to other
duties. Her new duties
will be in the area of
MVCA gets grant
A $61,600 provincial
grant will help finance a
multi-year groundwater
study to be undertaken by
the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority
within its area of
jurisdiction.
Remote sensing will be
used to detect the location
of springs as they reach
surface levels. This in-
formation will assist the
Authority in commenting
on development
proposals and changes in
land use and will also
facilitate planning for
such activities as land
acquisition and lan-
downer assistance
programs.
In announcing the
grant, Natural Resources
Minister James Auld said
that the study will be
undertaken over a five
year period commencing
in 1979 at a total
estimated cost of
$112,000.
