When our area Liquor Inspector confronted us with the report, we were at the time unable to comprehend the reason for the report submitted to the Inspector. I was indeed pleased with the' attitude of our Liquor Inspector and his ap- proach to the report, after all, he was only carrying out his rightful duty. We sincerely hope that the person or organization that sub- mitted the report is Conscious clear. 1-lowever, "TGIF" • is still flourishing, the only difference being we operate completely within the framework of the Liquor Laws. We as *a Legion have achieved another honor which proves that we are. Symphony dates set The Goderich gotaryili Club announced the dates for the 1979-80 Rotary Symphony series featuring the London Symphony Orchestra. The club will offer three concerts in the series beginning with the popular Handel 's Messiah to be presented at North Street United Church on Thursday, December 20 at 8.15 p.m. Messiah was presented in Goderich in 1977 as part of the winter concert series and is returning by popular demand. The remaining two concerts will be held at Goderich and District Collegiate Institute in February and May. The Sinfonia concert will be staged Friday, February 15 at 8.15 p.m. and the Orchestra Night, in- volving the complete London Symphony Orchestra, will be held. Friday, May 2 with support of, the Sully Foundation the subscription prices will remain at $20 per family and t$9 per adult for the series. The Goderich club will be looking for in- creased sales due to rising costs and tickets may be obtained from any Rotary Club mem- ber. The first concert features the popular Messiah which handel composed in the space .of three weeks in 1741. It took him seven, nine and six days respectively for each of the three large sections of the work and another two days to fill out the instrumentation. The first presentation took place in Dublin in April 1742 as a benefit concert. Handel later initiated a series of benefit concerts with his work for the Founding Hospital. The concert was an annual event and the blind Handel made his last public ap- pearance in 1759. 'Messiah has retained its popularity for over two centuries but is rarely heard as Handel himself performed it. But it has still maintained a rare popularity.
