. PAGE 2 —CLINTON NWS -RECORD, THURSDAY OCTOBER; 5.1979: in one of .the. big city — newspapers there Was a pull out advertisetnent last weekend for a revolutionary type of home furnishings. There were tractor type chairs, with no upholstery, into which no hump, n frame, no matter how well padded, could corn- fortably, repose. Add to the discomfort of sitting on one of these for any length of time, to" the utter impracticality .of bookshelves or cabinets which resembled refrigerator shelves stacked together. Can't you just see an upset glass of anything running through the rungs? The whole deal emphasized the exclusion of anything resembling wood or anything solid. Perhaps there is the living room somewhere which is ready for a revolutionary coffee table resembling a wire animal crate! +++ Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fear of Queen Street, Clinton spent last weekend October 19-21 in Burlington where Faye was re -united with her only brother, Bill. November 1. +++ SCOUTS: Scoutmaster Wayne Wigelsworth reports that the Scouts enjoyed a fun -filled weekend of canoeing at the Pinery Provincial Park on their first. camp of the season. Saturday the weatherman stirred up -' i little thunder and lightning along with the rain. This was not received enthusiastically but it did provide a first hand learning experience as to what to do in the event of a storm while canoeing. Sunday's weather was !pore co-operative and the canoe trip down -the `Ausable River was a great success, with a stop for a picnic lunch along the Riverside Nature Trail. Some additional work is still required on canoeing skills, particularly portage lifts. However, some of the scouts are becoming fairly proficient canoeists. All in all, the expedition was a great success_ . The Scouts wish to express a special thank -you for the•loan of canoes to Graham Bowker, Andy Calder, Don Jefferson, Paul Kerrigan and Ar- nold Riley.
