An arched terrace covered with leaves and
marigolds in Seaforth Lions Park provided a pretty
backdrop for the wedding of Gwendolyn R. Pickett of
Clinton and James E. Bell of R.R. 2 Goderich on
Saturday, September 8 at 1:30 p.m.
,Mr. John Slaybough of Uniontown, Ohio officiated at
the double ring• ceremony. S,ongs chosen for the
ceremony were "Lord Jesus Who Didst Once Appear"
and "All the Way My Saviour Leads Me".

mums and bronze daisies
for the wedding of Gerald
Toonk of Exeter and
Wibbina Bylsma of RR 1,
Blyth.
The groom is the son of
Mrs. Ann Toonk of Exeter
and the late Mr. D.J.
Toonk. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wobbe Bylsma of RR 1,
Blyth.
Rev. Arie Van Den
Berg was in charge of the
September 7 wedding and
Gail Lear played special
organ music for soloist
Chris Bylsma.
The bride wore an
elegant gown of French
interlock. The high
bodice was decorated
with Swiss Guipure lace
and bishop sleeves, an
empire bodice and
cathedral train com-
plimented the bodice. She
wore a matching head
piece and veil and carried
a cascading bouquet of
silk white freezia, sonya
roses, gloria and blue
gypsophilia.
Ellen Butcher of
Clinton attended as the
maid of honor. She wore a
long gown of beige and
brown floral eyelet and
carried a silk nosegay of
ivory and brown daisies,
brown fern and blue
gysophilia, • with brown
satin streamers.
The bridesmaids, Anne
Kaastra of Clinton and
Cory Kuipers of
Goderich, sisters of the
bride, wore gowns
identical to the maid of
honor and carried similar
nosegays.

The bride is the daughter Qf Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Pickett Of R,R. 3 Clint,O.0 and the groom is the sonof
Mr. andMrs. Arting ..1W1 of R.R. 2 Goderich,
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She
chose a polyester knit gown with Victorian neckline
and long attached hoodecktrain. It featured snow white
,,*aribou long straight sleeves with matching maribou
around the cuffs. The head dress was a Juliet caplet.
The bride carried a cascade of blue baby's breath,
white miniature carnations, coral stephanotis and
icycle mums..
Maid of honor was Edith Harrison of Redbridge,
Ontario. She wore a coral silk knit gown with pleated
' skirt and a machirig tiny cape held with covered
buttons. S1fe carried a bouquet of blue baby's breath,
coral stephanotis and icycle mums.
Bridesmaids were Cheryl Bell of London and Mary
Pickett ef R.R. 3 Clinton. They.were gowned the same
as the maid of honor and carried the same bouquets.
Flower girl was Maryann Pickett of Clinton. She
wore a white polyester floor length dress to match the
bride's. It was gathered at the front with long sleeves
and ruffled lace around the sleeves, neck and skirt.
She carried a basket of loose pE.‘als to throw away and
was later given a silk arrangement.
Groomsman was David King of Embro, Ontario.
Ushers were Scott 'Bell of R.R. 2 Goderich, Travis
Bell of R.R. 2 Goderich and Jerry Pickett of Clinton.
Ringbearer was Richard 'Pickett of Clinton.
Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was
held at Seaforth Lions Park pavilion which was
decorated with crepe paper streamers and bells for
the occassion
The bride's mother greeted guests wearing a navy
silk knit street length dress with a corsage of pink
roses.
The groom's mother assisted wearing a street
length cic..ess of blue polyester with a silver belt and
corsage of pink roses.
For a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the bride
changed to a wool plaid skirt with green wool mat-
ching jacket and corsage of brown silk roses.
Mr. and Mrs. James Bell are residing in Clinton.
Prior to the wedding, the bride was feted at_showers
given by Mrs. Olive Bell and Cheryl E?.11; by Mary
Pickett and Nancy Pickett at the home of Margy
Pickett; and by friends and neighbours in Goderich
Township at the home of Mrs. Marion Powell.
Radars host rally
The Golden Radar Club
held its regular meeting
in the Town Hall October
3, when president George
Rurnball conducted the
meeting. Forty-nine
members answered roll
call - the total mem-
bership now is . 80 and
more are always
welcome.
They are happy to
report that one of their
members, Viola Nelson,
is home from hospital and
able to be out again after
a lengthyilliaess.
The- president
reminded all of the Zone 8
Fall Rally in the Legion
Hall on October 17, which
the Clinton Club will host.
Registration is at 9:30
a.m. with a fee of $1.
Coffee and cookies
available and lunch
served at noon. Since this
is the'date of the regular
meeting, it will be can-
celled, so all are hoping
for a good attendance at
the day -time Rally.

The marriage of James
Wright of Kippen and
Brenda Turner of Varna
was celebrated at St.
Andrew's United Church
in Kippen on August 25.
The groom is the son of
Mrs. Esther Wright of RR
3, Kippen and the late
Frank Wright. The' bride
is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Turner of RR
1, Varna.
The double ring
ceremony was conducted
by Rev. Robert McMullen
and Pete Postill sang
special songs to the ac-
companiment of Mary
Moffatt at the organ.

two readings and a sing-
song was enjoyed with
Lorna Radford at the
piano. Euchre and 500
Were then enjoyed for an
hour. The high prize
winners for euchre were

Jessie Jones and the low
prize winners were Vera
Gibbings and Bernice
Brown. For 500 Bert
Rowden won the high
prize and Vera Crich the
low one.

UCW was held last
Tuesday evening with ,a
splendid attendance.
Mrs. V. Hargraves and
Mrs. J. Moffatt were in
charge of the:worship on
thankfulness as a habit
and after the singing of a
hymn,. scripture and
prayer, Mrs:Eve Luther
of Hensall sang a special
• solo. The offering • was
then received and a hymn -
was sung with Mrs: D.
McBeath at the piano.
Mrs. Moffatt gave the
Meditation and Mrs.
Hargraves led in prayer.
Mrs. Luther spoke on the
importance of expressing
our gratitude and praise
to God all yearlong.

devotions. A skit entitled
"Trash" was put on by
Roberta Plumsteel,
Marlene Forbes and
Isabel Colson.
The Study Book on
Japan was taken by
Nancy Turner for the 17
members present. The
treasurers report was
readby Helen Aiken and
seconded by Edna
Wheeler. The penny
collection was taken up.
Each member handed
in their $10 talent money •
and told how they had
earned it. The evening
unit have the flowers for
the church in October,
while the Huron Perth
Presbyterial is to be held
in Marna on October 16 at
6:30 pm for registration
