Clinton News-Record, 1979-09-20, Page 5Oiroups to eanvass town, The Beta Sigma Pb • Sorority and the K.inettf Club of Clinton, and the Canadian Arthritic Society reminds you, that the annual campaign fol funds will be held Sep- tember 17 to September 30 in the Town of Clinton. Your gift will be used by The Arthritis Society to support their programs of research, . education and information. This year the local goal is $u ,000., The Sorority and Kinettes remind you of the facts about the most serious form of arthritis - rheumatoid arthritis: + The chances of improvement are great; the majority of patients are able to return to a productive, fairly comfortable life with gainful employment. + Although there is no cure for rheumatoid arthritis in the sense that it disappears with treatment, treatment is predictably effective in most cases. Success will depend on the enthusiasm and thoroughness with which patient and family approach it. -l- There is genuine optimism and confidence concerning the search for a cure for rheumatoid arthritis. Great progress has been made and continues to be made. Arthritis research is paying off. + There is no pill, capsule, injection or combination of medicines now on the market which will cure arthritis. Do not be duped into spending money by .some quack. Your doctor can help control your disease. Follow your doctor's orders exactly. Remember that treat- ment may be a long-term affair. "In the past, the Sorority, Kinettes and The Arthritis Society have been proud of the response we have received when we ask for money in our campaign," says 'Betty,.-.ro' 'Cudfnore. "I know we , cam look forward to the samekind of help again this year. I am proud to be able to say that with the help of all the citizens of Clinton arthritis research is , indeed, paying off." Commend Asa Deeves At their September 13 meeting, members of Clinton's Murphy Loyal Orange Lodge No. 710. agreed to send a card to Mr Asa Deeves, congratulating him on his• letter to the editor in the September 13 edition of the News -Record, en - 'titled the Orange Order Lives. The letter will also lie forwarded to the Grand• Secretary of Ontario West for further circulation. Mr. Deeves has been a member of the Orange Order for over 60 years. In other business,.. the Lodge donated $50 to the . tornado relief fund in Oxford County. The. next Lodge meeting will be held on .October 1, beginning at 8:30pm, Overpaid The ministry of culture and recreation has demanded that the Zurich Lions and the local chamber of commerce return $175 on the ex- penditures gathered •at the playground this year, The Zurich Citizens' News reported that ac- cording to the ministry, playground supervisor Louise Regier was overpaid, and they are requesting the amount of what they consider to be the overpayment returned. The supervisor was paid $3 an \ hour and the ministry says • she should • have been paid only $2.15 which is the m ni;hum wage for students under 18 years old. The News went on to say that MPP Sack Riddell is supporting the Lions club and the chamber of commel a by ',,saying. that the s per - visor was entitled to the $3 anheti&rate, R f CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1979-- .PAeg 5 Cut From Canada Grade "A" Beef Chuck Blade Steaks Cut From Canada Grade "A" Beef Loin Sirloin Steaks ALL MERCHANDISE 100•.
