This is being typed on
Wednesday morning
(yesterday to those of you
who are reading it today)
- that's a pretty weird
explanation but the time
isn't that important - in
fact it just pertains to
another of my musings.
However, I couldn't pass
up the.opportunity to say
how beautiful it Was
driving up the Bayfield
Road this morning -
seems it was Spring when
I last mentioned it. If
there was even one
mountain along the way -
it would be almost perfect
- just like B.C.!!!

Pretty soon the annual
canvasses will start -
don't groan - each and
every one is as deserving
as the next. And although
the prices of most of our
commodities, food -
clothing - etc. have risen,
the amount which we
donate is still left for
lurselves to set the price
ticket.
The Canadian Institute
for the Blind's 1979
campaign for funds will
be starting next month.
This year's co-ordinator
is Mrs. Edith Land-

from Brock Olde who
headed the drive in
previous yea is .-
In a news release
received from CNIB we
learned how a visually
impaired worker, can
learn how to use a high
power spot welder in the
CNIB training centre and
it is one of hundreds of
jobs in which blind
Canadians can be
gainfully employed.

This week at the Legion
by Rene Brochu
Our Legion Branch,
once more, went through
an active week starting
off with a meeting in our
ladies' lounge on Tuesday
afternoon of the Federal
Business Development
Bank from Stratford. The
theme was how to run a
small business, a much
needed service for our
area.
Our. bingo followed on
Thursday evening with
Wilf Castle's bingo team
in action with , some 88
bingo players in at-
tendance. Winners of the
$200jackpot prize were
Hilda Smale from
Hensall and Joyce
Galiger from Ottawa.
Our TGIF was a special
one last week with Vera
Bennett and Grace Castle
providing a mouth-
watering treat of
"Shepherd's Pie". The
proceeds showed the best
iresults for some time, so
many thanks to our two
ladies. The raffle prize
went to • Sam Castle, a
popular win for all
present. Did :you knoW
..jhat Sam and Grace,are
celebrating, their 45th
anniversary'? There is no
time •like the present to
show our appreciation to
Sam and Grace for all the
support they have given
to our Branch in the past
years, and to wish them
for continued energy and
good health. Harvey

their homework well.
Winning the raffle prizes
were Martha Parker and

more winners of spot

Our First World War
