One of the harder worldng service clubs' volunteers every week at the Monster
Bingo is Clinton Lion Jens Anderson shown here making change. Most of the
workers now are Lions Club members, according to -chairman Joe Daer, and
he hopes that some service club will step in next year and run the bingos, as
many of the other service clubs are giving it poor support. (News -Record

Pee Wees finish second
On Friday, . August 10,
eleven boys took on the
might of Grand Bend and
tied the game 2-2 to round
out league play with a
record of three wins, one
tie and two losses. The
Clinton boys had the
same record as Grand
Bend .but lost the league
championship on goal
average.
The coaches were
proud of the type of
Soccer the boys played
but upset with some of the
boys who did not bother to
show up. The goal scorers
in the game were Sean
Van Dongen, and Jeff
Gautreau.
Saturday, August 11 the
team travelled to
Listowel to an all -day
tournament and again
played with only 11
players. This was one of
the weakest Teams
Clinton could have met
but the boys gave their all
add ,then scungMaking
their two coaches ToOy
Van Dongen and Tony
Jeacock two of the
proudest coaches in
Listowel.
In their first game, two
goals by big Mike Forier
were enough to power
them past Listowel 2-1.
In their_ second game
they soon found them-
selves one goal down
against Port Elgin, but
the, boys did not give up.
They came back with
unanswered goals, two
from the boot of Mike
Morier and one from
Stephen Jeacock to put
them into the final
against Kincardine.
In the final game, the
boys were tired but gave
a good account of
themselves and lost 4-0
but won a beautifui
consolation trophy: The
boys would like to thank
the T -pall teams and
parents from Vanastra
who came and gave the
boys vocal support in the
final game.
The 11 boys .from
Clinton who drew the
praise of the Lake Huron
Zone Tournament
organizers were Sean
Van Dongen, Rdbbie
Chapman, Paul
Farquhar, Philip
Dykstra,' Mike Forier,
Pee Wee Ladd, Austin
Roorda, George
Coventry,, Jeff and Rick
Gautreau and Stephen
Jeacock. •
Land deeded to...
• from page 6
from Hensall and.
Seaforth.
Last year the board
gave some land from
Victoria Public School to
the town of Goderich for
improvepents in
that town and :traded a -
chunk of land from
Colborne Public School
for fencing to permit
widening of the county
road adjacent to that
school.
Gower said the board
should be looking at all its
school sites to see if it is
getting the best deal
possible for its land.
Trustees wanted no
part of indicating there
would be interest in
giVing up land in Hensall
for anything. Turkheim
noted that a new sub-
division s was • • bang
planned for land near the
Hensall School pointing
out the matter may be
better left alone. •
A letter will be sent to
Hensall J village, council
indicating the board has
no interest in selling or
giving any land away.
