A couple of weeks ago, I advised readers that
now would be a good time to apply for your
Firearms Acquisition Certificate if there was
any inkling that it might be needed before the
start of the 1979 hunting season. Well, I guess my
advice was well founded as since then I've. -seen
notices from the Ontario, Provincial Police to the
same effect and have also received memos in the
mail from Remmington and Winchester echoing
the same comments. Winchester, however, has
gone one step further in an effort to comply with
the new laws and help speed the sale of F.A.C.'s
'before the upcorning season.

If you are about to purchase a Winchester or
Cooey rifle or shotgun, or are the original owner
of one of these fine firearms (I am not aware of
any time limit for prior ownership, but I would
assume that purchases within the last few years
would easily qualify) then you are also eligibleto
win a hunting trip to Honduras. This could be the
hunting trip 'of a lifetime with the quarry being
the fast flying and plentiful dove. Four people
will enjoy this fantastic trip, which includes air
transportation to Miami, then on to Honduras
and return, meals and shared accommodation,
shotguns (on loan), ammunition and licenses.,
Only your personal expenses are extra.
.The dealer you purchased this firearmfrom can
also cash in on this bonanza, because if you win
the - trip, then, he wins a .Winchester Bat
Masterson CommemorativeRifle. This is the
reasonall entries must include thename and
mailing address of the dealer from whom you
purchased your'new firearm.
, .So, :*what .do Eyou' havewttc do. to. win:.• Simple.
Just send off a letter to Winchester with your full
name; mailing address; telephone number; the
model, caliber or gauge and serial number of
your new Winchester or Cooey firearm and of
course, your Firearms Acquisition Certificate
(F.A.C.) number. The winner will be required to
answer a skill testing question.
The final draw will be held on December 15; ---
1979vwith the cut off date being November 30th.
The hunting trip will take place from February,
26 to March 3, 1980. Entries should be sent to
Winchester Western (Canada) Ltd., Box 2007,
Cobourg, Ontario, K9A 4M1.
Now, if this isn't a good reason to get a F.A.C.,
I don't know what is. Remember, a F.A.C. only
costs $10 and is good. for five years, is available
at sporting goods dealers or O.P.P. detachment ,
offices, and only takes a few minutes to fill out. If
you're going to,buy.or borrow -a firearm this fall,
get one now so you're prepared.

Fishermen . and fishergals, or should I say
fisherpersons --- where are you.' The Tackle for
Tykes program needs your help. Response to this
ambitious program has been good, but it still
needs YOUR help to reach its full potential. I've
said it before, and I'll say it again --- your con-
tributions are needed. A couple of lures, a spool
of line or a dollar or two is all we're asking for. If
you can't spare the time to take a kid fishing,
how about helping to supply the equipment
needed so someone who cares CAN.
The Seaforth Gtfn Club took it on their own
initiative to run a fishing derby for kids on the
opening day of trout season: They arranged to
have several hundred trout planted in the creek
in the Seaforth Lion's Park and solicited mer-
chants for, contributions. The response was so
overwhelming, that just about every kid won a
prize Of one sort or another. The kids had a great
time and everyone was richer for the experience.
So why won't you help. It's still not too late.
Send something off todapto Tackle for Tykes, c -o
Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, P.O
Box 28, Peterborough, Ontario, K9J 6Y5. I'm
sure the recipients of your donation will enjoy it
as much as the Seaforth kids did. -
