Riordon Bayfield girl wed BayfieldBaptist Church was the setting' for the wedding on June 9 of Shirley. Ann McFadden and Richard C. Riordon. The bride is the daughter -..of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin McFadden of Bayfield and the groom's' parents are Mr. and Mrs. Murray Riordon of London. Pastor L.G. Shiel of- ficiated at the double ring ceremony and Mrs. Cathi.. Cullen presided at the organ. Soloist " "Boh, Peckham of London, accornpanied his singing on the guitar, in "The Wedding Song",... "Born- Again", in "Jesus Open My • _._ —Eyes!..." __-and__: z`NQanr __and:....._ Forevermore". Given in marriage by her father, thebride wore a gown of lace over satin, featuring a mandarin collar' and sweetheart neckline. Her fingertip veil was edged in lace and she carried a bouquet of yellow roses. Mrs. Eleanor Kuyvenhoven of ,• Wingham was matron of honour wearing an ankle - length yellow gown with V -neckline and overskirt. She carried a basket of white daisies and yellow rosebuds. Bridgesmaids Mrs. Mary Bolton and Miss Kathy McFadden, sisters of the bride, wore gowns identical to the matron of honour. NF1ower girl, Chris Riordon, sister of the groom, , also wore a yellow gown • with lace trimmed neckline and' carried a basket of daisies and rosebuds. Christopher Parker of London was the groomsman and the guests were ushered into the church by Mike Everett and David Peters. Dan Riordon, brother of the groom ,'was ring bearer. A candelighl; dinner was held at The Little Inn. For greeting the' guests, the .bride's mother chose a lilac floor -length govJn ac- cented by a corsage • of ' pink rosebuds. The groom's mother wore a pink floor -length gown accented by a corsage of white carnations. Special guests were the • groom's grandmother, Mts. Edith Currie of Woodstock, New Brun' swick, and grandfather, Mr. Frank Riordon of London. Other guests. were'present from Grand Forks, North Dakota, Woodstock,N.B., Ottawa, -Toronto, Kitchener, London and the local air'ea. • 'F'ollowing a honeymoon in Florida, the couple are residing in London. Prior to the Wedding, . the' bride and .groom were' Vests at a party given by Mrs. .Eleanor k uyvenhoven, assisted by .Mrs Mary Iolton and • Miss Kathy •McFadden, at`' the McFadden residence. Mrs. Murray Riordon hosted a shower in London for the bride. Another shower was given. ,by the ladies of Central Baptist Church in London. Members and friends of the Bayfield Baptist Church enjoyed a social evening with '-the bride and groom. " Ba eld Btt nems By, Janet Talbot The • Bayfield Baptil;t Church services were well attended with the - councillors from Camp Canby, the Baptist Fellowship Carnp, just south of Bayfield, as guests, who as a group gave testimonies and sang. It is wonderful to see these •young people giving their vacation time to serve the Lord in these ' camps, where many children- -get -what maybe their only chance to learn, about Jesus, and to know Him and accept Him as- their personal Saviour. Also bringing ..a message in song was Mrs.. Ecker from Strathroy, who is visiting her daughter_ Mrs. Les Shiel, The Pastor, Rev. Les Shiel, continued in the study of the Book of.: James, now at the 4th chapter. His theme "Why do I do what I do?" a question that is answered in that chapter, and is "because I am what I am", which- proves that; man sins because he was. a sinner by birth. • After the eyening• service at the' "Bayfield Rapti t Church, a presentation -was made to newly-weds Rick and Shirley (nee McFadden) Riordan at a Fireside in the Sunday school room of the church.' The room was tastefilllydecorated and the table was cen- tered with beautiful twin heart -shaped cakes with the initials of the bride and groom " in the—icing decor, prepared and decorated •-by Mrs. Muriel Snider. The lunch was served buffet style and a great time of fellowship was enjoyed by all. On July 3, Margaret Mitchell Grace Peck, Mary Ross, Margaret McQueen, Gladys Stanlake, Eunice Lamb, Mabel Garrow, Verna Elliott, Elsie Henderson, J. Our Mrs. Florence Doak received the prize for the oldest lady in attendance. Also on Wednesday afternoon, our Over 90 Club met. Mrs. Elsie Henderson, and Cecil Skinner provided , the entertainment. Cookies and tea Were served by our volunteers at the close. • Mrs. Proudy held Bible Study Thursday af- ternoon. As Father Hardy will be away for the next two weeks, there will, be no Catholic Mass. Graham_ of the Goderich Detachment OPP was honored on Wednesday, July. 4, 1979 in the -Galt Room at the -Holiday Inn at Guelph. He received the Ontario Provincial Police Long Service and Good Conduct ' Medal which is awarded to a member who has served not less than 20 years. Barry Turner, right, received the music award from Mrs. McKinley at the recent graduation ceremonies at Huron .Centennial. He also won the top academic boy award.(School photo) Stanley man dies Thomas Westlake A Stanley Township native, Thomas Matthew Andrew Westlake, died on June 20 at the Bluewater Rest Home in Zurich. He was in his 9Ist year. Mr. Westlake was born in Stanley. to Mr. • and Mrs. Edmund ,W0stlake on April 12, 1889. He lived at RR 3, Bayfield and continued to live in the township after his . marriage to the former•Isabella Delgaty. Mr.- Westlake is predeceased by, his wife, parent's, one brother and one sister. He is survived by two sons, Keith Tobert of Zurich and Gordon Thomas , •of RR 3, Bayfield. Alsq--_s_.ur_viving are seven grandchildren and 16 great grand- children. Funeral' services were held on June 23 at the Westlake Funeral. Home in Zurich with Pastor R. Brubacher and Pastor J.
