holiday visitors

Hazelwood from Brussels
was the guest minister at
the Londesboro United
Church on Sunday
morning.
Garnet Wright
welcomed the
congregation and the
ushers were Brad Lyon,
Russell Nesbit, Bill
Jewitt and Kevin Rad-
ford.
The organist was Mrs.
Glen McGregor and Mrs.
Allen Shaddick led the
choir. Two solos were
sung by Mr. Vic Fox.`
The children's story
was, Why We Come To
Church, and the junior
teachers were Mrs. Mel
Knox and Brenda Millar.
Rev. Hazelwood read
the story on the prodigal
son and took as his
message, What Is God
Like?
After the sermon he
• noted that if anyone is
sick or in need of a
minister, they can con-
tact Rev. John
Oestreicher in Clinton at
482-9696.
Cheerio aub
The Cheerio Club met
at the home of Vi Burns
on May 16. Ida Durnin
was acting president and
welcomed all with a
poem, written by Mrs.
Margaret Manning.
The minutes of the
March meeting and the
treasurer's report were
read by Gladys Arm-
strong, the secretary -
treasurer. Correspon-
dence included a thank -
you note from Jewel
Cowan for the card sent
to her on her 80th bir-
thday. A thank -you note
was also received from
Edythe Beacom and a
receipt came from the
Easter Seal for the club's
donation.
The r' oll can was an-.
swered by 12 members
and one visitor, Audrey

strong, was won by Mary
Longman. A reading was
then given by Mrs. Burns.
Group 1 will hold the
next meeting at the home
of Dora Shobbrook on
June 20.
'Club members paid
their dues and the
executive will be the
same as last year:
secretary -treasurer,
Addie Hunking;
assistant, Mrs. Shob-
brook; chairlady, MrS.
Longman; cards, Mrs.
Longman.
It was moved by Nona
Pipe, with all in favor,
that the club make
scrapbooks for the
•children's ward at the
Clinton hospital. The
June roll call will be to
provide pictures and
colors for the project.
Mrs. Armstrong and
Ida Durnin gave readings
and then some cards and
crokinole were played.
Lunch was served by
Mrs. Burns, Mrs. Durnin
and Mrs. Armstrong.
There was an exchange of
slip plants after the
meeting.

Sorry to report that
Edythe Beacom and Japk
Snell have been laid up
with shingles.
Karen Johnston
returned home on May 15
after spending a few days
in Clinton hospital,
suffering from
pneumonia.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Burns attended the
funeral of their cousin
Mr. Ivan Leask on
Thursday in Stratford.
Mr. and Mrs. Ian
Hulley returned home on
the weekend after
spending two weeks
honeymooning in Nova
Scotia, visiting her
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray
Lyon, Brad and Deana
along with Cameron
Moon spent Saturday in
Toronto and attended the
Bluejays and Baltimore
baseball game.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Shobbrook spent Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Ellerby in Clinton.
Sunday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pipe
were her brother Mr. and
Mrs. Orville Hooper of
Ailsa Craig.
Mrs. Joe Shaddick
returned home on
Saturday after spending
three -and -a -half weeks
