Clinton News-Record, 1979-05-10, Page 28PAGE 6A—CLINTOts1 NEWS -RECORD, THURSDAY, MAY 10, 1979 Exeter visited by Flamingo Unusual visitor Exeter residents may have thought they were imagining things last week when they looked up into the sky and saw a long-legged, long -necked pink thing. The flying creature was actually a flamingo and where he came from no one knows. The Grand Bend Zoo and Storybook Gardens say that he isn't theirs and it has been said ' that it is doubtful that other zoos in Canada would have their flamingos out so early in the season. Grand Bend zookeeper Ted Relouw thinks that the bird may have escaped from a zoo south of the border or may have blown here in a storm. The big bird could even have flown all the way from Florida. Despite Mr. Relouw's attempts to lure the bird to his zoo, the flamingo has resisted. The bird prefers to make his home in the water and mud about three miles from Greenway.
