She reports 'having a very good winter, but is happy to be home. Time changed Rev. A.C. Young of Goderich conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday while Rev. Kenneth Knight is at- tending a stewardship workshop in London this weekend. Rev. Young delivered an inspiring message on "God's Abiding Presence". The choir under the direction of Mrs. Taylor sang "I Need Thee Every Hour". The service next Sunday will be held at the hour of 11:30 am saving time. R '3 Miss Agnes Cochrane is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter where" she is receiving treat- ment. A number of members of the -"Three Links" Senior Citizen's attended the 4th Annual Spring Rally Zone 8 held at St. John's Parish Hall, Grand Bend on Tuesday. The members of Amber Rebekah Lodge are holding a "Dessert Euchre" and bake sale in the local Lodge rooms on Wednesday May 9th at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Mrs. Rosa Harris returned to her home after spending several months in Smithers, British Columbia. Mrs. Elizabeth Alexander has taken residence in Exeter this week. She 'has been a resident of the village for many years and will be missed by her many friends. Taylors honoured Mr. and Mrs. Don McLellan, Chiselhurst were hostess on Monday evening in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Taylor who have taken up residence in Hensall. The evening was spent playing progressive euchre after which Dors and Karen McLellan presented Ted and Dorothy with a gift. Bob Bell read the ac- companying address and Ted made a fitting reply thanking everyone. A social hour was enjoyed and lunch served. Visits Mother. C.W.O. Ronald M. MacKinnon from Baden, West Germany ac- companied b' his br'o'ther and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. William MacKinnon and Shaun of London spent Sunday, with their mother Mrs. Janet MacKinnon. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Luther returned from a pleasant vacation with their son and daughter-in- law, Magistrate Don Luther, Mrs. Luther, granddaughter Rachel, and new grandson Adam, in St. Johns, Newfoun- dland. Also visiting on Sunday with the Sararas were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reed, Mississauga; and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sararas, Bramalea:" Former farmer dies E. Austin Dilling, formerly of the Hensall area, passed away at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy on Friday April 27, 1979 in his 93rd year. He was the husband of the late Lena Maud Mahaffy. Surviving is a daughter Hazel (Mrs. Laurie Stephen) ; sons Cecil and Ross, London; also surviving are four grandchildren, Donna and Jerry Stephen and Larry and Ray Dilling. A brother the late Wilbert Dilling of Hensall predeased last year.. Funeral service was held from the Dinney Funeral Home, Exeter on Monday April 30th at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Susan (Seymour) MacGregor officiating. Intermient was in Exete.C„ .emetery. Queensway visitors Mrs. Irene Kalbfleisch was visited by her sister, Mrs. Violet Bishop, and her brother and sister-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Chinck Funnell, Woodstock; and granddaughter Heather Dougherty. Visitors with Russell Erratt were his wife Pearl; Helen and Bill Taylor and Joyce Bushey. Nelson Loghrin was visited by the Klemke family. The president, Mrs: Maisie Bray of Lion's Head, was in charge of the meeting which commenced with a dinner served by the lady directors of Tara Agricultural Society. Mrs. Eleanor B dnock thanked the Tara adies for their delicious beef dinner. Civic greetings were brought by the Warden of Bruce County, the Reeve of Tara, A. Speers and also from the Reeve of Erin Township, G. Kirkland. Mrs. Amy Trelford, president of the Tara Horticulture Society, welcomed all to the meeting held in the Community Centre. Mrs. Effie Stephenson of Seaforth gave an impressive memorial service. Mrs. Bray reported on her year's activities and thanked all societies for their co-operation. The guest speaker, Mrs. Charlotte Erickson - Brown, was introduced by Mrs. Bray and she spoke on the topic, Herbs in Ontario. She grows many of the herbs in King Township and stressed their medicinal properties and told why our early settlers used so many of them. . Miss Helen Arkell_ of Teeswater thanked the speaker for her inspiring address. Prize winning slides of flowers, planters and trees were shown and Mrs. C. Hemingway of Brussels won in all the categories. Herb Markel spoke of the coming O.H.A. convention in London. Mrs. Willaim Klie of Hanover brought greetings and urged all to attend the annual meeting of the Ontario Horticultural Societies to be held at the Holiday Inn, London in June She outlined her work this past year as president of the O.H.A. and stated that she has 253 societies with a membership of 66,000. Ed Fielding of Wingham spoke of the International Ploughing Match and thanked all for assisting in the Hor- ticulture tent. Gordon Baxter of, Wingham gave the financial statement, showing a balance of $408.44 for District eight. The next conventions will be held in Chesley in 1980 and in Hanover in 1981.
