(Horticultural
Society plans
plant auction
The Clinton • Hor-
ticultural meeting was
opened on a sad note
when Mrs. Bond ex-
pressed . the group's
sadness on the death of
Charlie Cook, a most
faithful member. It was
suggested that a two
minute period of silence
be held, but as Mrs. Bond
said, "that .didn't sound
like Charlie." Instead she
suggested that in the
future, all members
work willingly and hard
for the society.
Mrs. Bond explained
why tulips are the group's
premium. She noted that
members can plant them
before going south for the
winter, and enjoy them in
bloom when they return.

gardens at Harry Ball's;
the huge sunflower grown
by the Clintonians;
sunrises over the town;
the beautiful garden at

apartments; the in-
teresting gardens at
Glovellen Farms; Mid-

welcome sight for any
gardener, a crocus
blooming through the
snow.
The door prize was won
-by Jean Livermore but
everyone went home with
a prize because it was
plant exchange night.
The next meeting is the
auction on Friday, May 4,
starting at 7:30 pm. All
will have the chance to
plant in their gardens

the well known garden
that was so much a part
