cob McKinley says he'll run .federally in the Huron -Bruce riding
Huron -Middlesex MP
Robert McKinley told a
Eartisan crowd Friday in
xeter that he would seek
re-election in the new
federal riding of Huron -
Bruce. '
McKinley told the
annual meeting of the
Huron -Middlesex
Progressive Con-
ser'rative Association
that the idea of not
running had crossed his
tnind but that he quickly
dist;ounted the notion.
The _Zurich area
resident said he had
given himself completely
to the people of the riding
Or the past 13 years and
that this total com-
mittnent would continue.
McKinley lashed out at
the present Prime
Minister saying "My
total commitment will
continue until we get rid
of a man who has done
more damage in the
history of Canada than
any other man, Pierre
Elliott Trudeau."
In recognition of the
riding's changed boun-
daries, which will see the
two Middlesex county
townships drop out and
four townships from
Bruce county added,
McKinley announced the
opening of a constituency
office in Wingham.
Anson McKinley, a
former warden of Huron
county echoed his
brother's sentiments
about the present status
of the country by saying
Trudeau has sent more
Canadians out of the
country than any other
Prime Minister.
He cited the example of
Florida where French-
Canadians are pur-
chasing large amounts of
property. "It's a sad
statement on the state of
our country," the Stanley
township and defeated
provincial candidate
said.
Adding his criticisms to
the recent federal
government was former

TRUSTEES MEET
The Auburn Village
Trtstees met for their
March meeting in the
Auburn town hall with all
members present. The
Chairman, Warner
Andrews, presided and
the , minutes were ac-
cepted as read by the
village clerk, Mrs. Arva
Machan.
The Village Trustees
accepted with regret the
resignation of former
village clerk, Frank
Raithby, who retired
recently. He was ap-
pointed in January 1970.
New business was
discussed and so was the
matter of dogs running
loose. Steps are being
taken immediately to
enforce the Law to keep
dogs tied up at all times.
Improvements in roads
and sidewalks were also
planned and' some of the
projects will be com-
pleted.
The Clerk had been
questioned about the fire
engine water pumper as
to whether it would go
and Trustee Jim
Glousher assured the
others that it has been
running and is in good
condition.
The various uses of the
town hall were discussed
and was left as is until the
end of the year.
Mrs. Machan showed
the filing system and
bookkeeping books that
she has set up for the
village.
-NEW HORIZON
. PROGRAM
Richard Hewitt from
the New Horizon
program of Health and
Welfare Canada met with
the executive and council
members last Friday in
the Community
Memorial Hall to assist in
making plans for this new
project.
The president, Ross
Robinson. outlined some
provincial minister of
agriculture Bill Stewart,
who said if Trudeau
delays the election for an
extended period of time it
would mean certain
defeat for the Liberals.
He added he did not think
Trudeau would effect
such a move.
The country badly
needs leadership ac.-
cording
c-cording to Stewart and
the present state of the
country can be directly
attributed to "the

To add insult to injury,
this idiotic idea of Iona
Campagnola, Minister of
Jocks, has popped up. She
wants to give $18.5
million of my money and
yours to four Canadian
cities, so that they can
build big arenas to ac-
commodate four more
losers in an NHL that is
already so watered-down
with mediocre talent that
60 per cent of them
couldn't have made a
of the plans already going
under the categories of
sports and recreational
activities, crafts and
hobbies, cultural, bus
tripps, etc. that will be
made available 'to
everyone, especially
those of 60 years and
over.
Everyone is welcome to
join this group, which
now has a membership of
over 100, if they have
reached the required age.
