This was the case last Thursday when Flo Smith with daughter, Madelaine and Leone Rowat with daughter, --Sheila, made up a team for a fun day of curling . at St. Marys.•A second team entered in the , same bonspiel was that of Pat Deighton, on her first outing as a 'bonspiel skip' with Marlene Forbes, vice; Marjorie Coleman, second and Drusilla Twynham, lead, who brought home the third prize of . their draw for most points in the second gam e. Meanwhile - back at the Mitchell Mixed Bonspiel - first prize turkeys for the men and lawn chairs for the ladies - went to the team of Gord and Irma Pryce, Barb Jarmuth and_ Roy Beuerman. Good curling folks! The last bonspiel of the season kept everyone bustling at the club last Saturday. This was the Mixed Open sponsored by Fleming Feed Mills of Clinton and was well attended with all rinks filled. Everyone enjoyed three 8 end games, some going to tie breakers, all of which makes one,wish sometimes that everyone could be a winner. The consolation prize went to the Glencoe rink of Ray and Diane Beattie with Ray and Eve McDonald. In the Late Draw, first prize went to Bill and Grace Campbell with John Jr. and Gwen Patterson; second, Gord and Irma Pryce with Don and Kathy Pletsch; third, Murray and Marlene Forbes with Steve and Robin Tyndall - all three Seaforth teams. The consolation went to the Vanastra entry of Alex and Eileen Townsend with John and Gail Brownridge. Also on Saturday, a team skipped by Marlene Robertson with Marjorie Papple, vice; Clara Brugger, second and Marg Sallow, lead, represented Seaforth at the Listowel Ladies Open Bonspiel. They now advance to round two scheduled for next Sunday at Owen Sound. Nancy's Pansies are close behind with 125. Vera's Verbenas and Gerrit's Glads are tied with 124 points apiece and Betty's Buttercups are last with 1171A. In the individual scoring, Iva Reid took the high single of 261. Moranne Duddy had the high triple of 629 and Mona Campbell had the high average of 201. YBC Teen Lynn Armstrong was the top ladies' bowler. She had the high single of 282, the high triple of 602 and the high average of 193. Phil Cornish had the men's high single of 313 and the high triple of 820. Gary Armstrong took the high average of 219. The Cooper's Kooks are the top team with 107 points and the Honkies are second with 98. The Untouchables are in third place with 82 points. The Bowlers Anonymous have 70 points, Jackie's Swans have 66 and the Five Fabulous Freak Outs are last with 60. Tuckersmith Mixed Aileen's Bluebirds have a slight lead on first place with 119 points and Anne's Bluejays are close behind with 1181/2. Winnie's Wrens have 111, May's Mockingbirds have 110, Erma's Eagles have 109 and Anne's Canaries are in last place with 911/2 points. Mary Buffinga had the ladies' high single of 245, while Helen Dykstra had the high triple of 663. ° In the men's scoring, Joe Veenstra had the high triple of 279 and Angus Hummel had the high triple of 656. Clinton Mixed In the final standings of the season, the Super Six finished first with 93 points and the Star Warriors were second with 87. ' Other standings are: the Five Stars, 86; Joy's Joys and High Rollers tied with 81 points each; Bowling Buddies, 78; Close Encounters, 74; Desperatos, 64. Sheila Keys had the ladies' high single of 360. Louise Gibbings took the high triple of 793 and the high average of 204. For the men, Bob Falconer had the high single of 306. Larry -Gibbings had the high triple of 740 \and the high average went to Don Switzer with 218. Goderich hospital plans canned Board members of the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich have been told that the government will not accept public financial support for the operating expenses of community hospitals. The Goderich Signal Star reported that members of the board learned this news after a meeting in Toronto with the Ontario Ministry of Health on March 2. Sorority plan daffodil sale "If you could go on a holiday anywhere in the world" was the roll call question which members of- Zi Epsilon Beta members answered at the 47th meeting of Beta Sigma Phi held February 27 at the home of Rekha Kalokhe. Brenda Rutledge and Rekha Kalokhe reported ' on the needlepoint course they completed and will be passing this talent on to the members at the next few meetings. Service Chairman Betty Jo Cudmore reported on the progress of the Daffodil campaign. Sorority members will be selling daffodils at various outlets in and around the Clinton area. Daffodils will also be on sale at Wesley -Willis Church, Clinton on Thursday, March 29th 11- 1:30 p.m. at the noon luncheon and on Friday, March 30th from 2-4:30 p.m. for the Daffodil Tea.
