"It's "top of the
morning" time again and
anywhere from a month
or so before that "great,
green date" of March 17
the lilting Irish music
starts. It must be a disc
jockey's hey day, as there
seems to be a never
ending repertoire of the
songs of the isle that all
Irishmen swear the
angels dropped from out
of heaven, but the rest of
us were led to believe
descended from St.
Patrick and his snakes.
Be it as it may, their
music is lovely.
As saints days go,
March 17th is closely
followed in popularity by
the songs of Scotland to
celebrate their patron
saint, St. Andrew on
November 30. Scottish
songs, by tradition, seem
more vibrating perhaps
bespeaking the rugged
grandeur of the
Caledonian mountains
To Residents

Clinton -Au.
Garbage to be
at the curb by
8 a.m.
and the fierce pride of the
dour Scot.
Left considerably in the
rear of the saints days
are those of England and
Wales, and there are
precious few who even
know their dates. St.
George of England is
'celebrated on April 23
while St. David's day has
just passed by on March
1. English music doesn't
have too much national
significance, although the
songs most often
associated with old
Blighty are the immortal
ones born of two world
wars.
Welsh music is
beautiful" and, probably,
the most pure of the four,
as are the voices of Welsh
singers. Something clean
and lovely had to come
out of the black of the coal
pits and Welsh music is
all of that. No one could
but be stirred to hear the
strains of. "Land of My
Fathers."
But anyway, before
Clancy lowers the boom,
let's leave the music
theme, but not without
wishing the Irish a great,
green March 17.

Service „clubs and
church organizations
often have on, their roll
calls the names of
members who have given
much time and service to
their group. The
Friendship Guild of St.
Paul's Anglican Church
will have lost one such
member in the passing of
Dorothy Crozier. Not only
this group, but also the
town at large has lost a
good friend. The con-
dolences of the com-
munity go out to all
members of her family.
Up a tree without an axe? Or a new species of monkey sighted in Clinton?
Neither. It's Steve Gibbings of the Clinton PUC attaching ropes to a tree that
the PUC is trimming as part of the town's tree renovation scheme, always
carried out in late winter. The ropes are to direct the tree away from any
buildings. (photo by Steve Cooke)
Rennaissance leader coming
Rev. Ken Campbell of
Milton, head of
Renaissance Inter-
national, will be speaking
in Clinton on Wednesday
April 4, to the PTA
meeting of the Clinton
and District Christian
School.
Rev. Campbell, a
Protestant evangelist,
and the Renaissance
International group are
concerned with parents'
responsibility in the
education of children.
The group has attacked
the presence in, high
schools of such books as
Margaret Laurence's
"The Diviners," W.O.
Mitchell's "Who Has
Seen The Wind," Alice
Munro's "Lives of Girls
and Women," and J.D.
Salinger's "Catcher in
the Rye".
Through their branch
in Huron County, the
group succeeded in
getting one book, "The
Diviners" banned from
the school rooms in
Huron County last fall.
The meeting at the
Christian School on
Princess Street begins at

Our first film entitled

on Rudyard Kipling's
Funeral well attended
The number of citizens
from all walks of Clinton
life and , visitors from
farther afield who were
present at the funeral
services for the late
Dorothy Bartliff Crozier,
attested to the high
esteem in which this lady
was held.
The service in St.
Paul's Anglican Church,
Clinton on Tuesday af-
ternoon March 13, 1979
was conducted by the
rector, the Rev. James
,PART-TIME

Padre George
Youmatoff.
Mrs. Crozier was born
and spent her life in
Clinton and, until a few
years ago, was
associated with her three •
brothers in the bakery
and restaurant business
bearing the Bartliff
name. Her funeral was
from the church for
which she had worked
with undiminished zeal.
book The Jungle Book,
tells the story of a human
baby who is adopted by
wolves, from whom he
learns about love, justice,
and the jungle code of
loyalty.
Paddington, that
loveable bear from
Britain comes to life in
our next feature entitled
More of Paddington. Real
live beers display their
antics In our final film as
we present Walt Disney's
Yellowstone Cubs.
On another note, the
Bayfield Library will also
be hosting a film
program during March
Break. Tuesday, March
20 at 10 am three free
films suitable for
children of all ages will
be shown in the Archives
Room of the Library.

feature Mowglis
Brothers; but two Walt
Disney features entitled
Cartoon Parade and Bear
Country have been

films shown at Clinton.

March 31 will mark the
last day of skating.
Although the skating
season for the Clinton
club will finish soon our
budding enthusiasts will
be able to join a spring
skating school either at
Vanastra, managed by
Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Moore, or at Stratford,
managed by Mr. and
Mrs. Guy Gordon.
Spring and fall schools
are usually of four weeks
duration of concentrated
skating in a disciplined
situation.
Improvement in
skating skills may often
be doubled compared
with what can be ac-\
complished in ten. months
of'one or two - three hour
sessions a week during
the winter.
It is because of the
extra skating in spring,
fall or two month sum-
mer schools that our
intermediate and senior
students have attained
higher levels of training
than ever before in
Clinton.
Certainly if a child
shows any talent and
desires to try the com-
petitive stream or
become an advanced test
skater, he or she should
take advantage of the
extra schools. We
couldn't have it any
hardier either. - by
Audrey Middleton.
