Candy Stripers and three
are on duty each day.

arising from a recent
executive meeting were
considered. It was
decided to have special
speakers for some up-
coming meetings. The
auxiliary agreed to help
at the time of Hospital

luck luncheon in June.
The Candy Striper
capping ceremony and
the Christmas decorating
will also be part of this

assist by taking pictures
of the auxiliary in action.

commemorated with a
special anniversary
prize.

asked to determine the
needs of the hospital for
possible auxiliary
projects.

Monday, March 5 at 10
„a.m. in the board room of
the hospital and all
members are welcome to

IODE buy incubators
As part of this year's
activities . designed to
recognize 1979 as the
International Year of the
Child, the National
Chapter IODE has
raised, through donations
from the organization's
'primary' chapters,
$24,000 to pay for six
incubators to be used in
the Northwest
Territories.
These incubators can
be adapted to hook into
the electrical System of
an airplane and will
carry premature or sick
babies. who require
specialized care, from
remote nursing stations
to secondary care centres
in Frobisher Bay,
Yellowknife, Inuvik and
Hay River, N.W.T. and
Churchill, Manitoba or on
to hospitals in Winnipeg
or Montreal. They can
also operate on a battery
system to carry the infant
by road.
The first of these has
already been delivered
and is • in operation,
presently as a stationary
unit at a nursing station
in Nanisivik, a fairly
recently founded com-
munity at the northern
end of Baffin Island on
Strathcona Sound.
Mrs.( Helen Dick, who is
Services Secretary for
the National Chapter
IODE, is working on this
project with` Dr. F.J.
Covill, Regional Director
of Medical Services for
the Northwest Territories
Region under the
Department of Health
and Welfare, Canada,
and as the need arises for
rriore of these incubators
in the future, IODE
members will raise the
money to buy.them.

TRUTH
When we understand what the Bible says about sin
we are ready to see what it says about the remedy for
sin - salvation.
Salvation is the whole work of God by which he saves
men from the eternal doom and ruin of sin and gives
him eternal life now and eternal glory in heaven. This
is possible only on thegrounds of God's grace and not
human merit. Salvation is of the Lord. Jonah 2:9.
The Lord Jesus said, "Itis.finished" when He died on
the cross. He was not referring to His own life; service,
or sufferings. He was referring to the work which His
Father gave Him to do while He was on the cross.
Through His sufferings and death He provided
redemption which is offered to every man. John 3:16.
The fact that Christ died on the cross does not save
men, but it providds •the basis on which God in full
harmony with His holiness is free to save even the chief
of sinners.
I Timothy 1:15. God saves everyone who comes to Him
for salvation on this basis. Ephesians'2:8,9.
