Manager Dennis Martin Executive Bill Weber Executive Most people, including many of their fans, said the Clinton Junior "C" Mustangs just didn't have it this year, and wouldn't even make the playoffs. Well, for a while, things weren't very bright for the, members of the Central Junior "C" tea" They were orphaned from their own home, the Clinton arena - closed for repairs most of the season; they were plagued by injuries and sickness that put most of the team members in bed during the vital stretch drive; and even when they did finally get back to their home, the local supporters had practically forgotten them. But despite the crazy mixed up season, the boys came through with flying colors and grabbed second place in the league by winning the last three games of the season. Now, starting this Friday night at 8:30 p.m. the Mustangs open the playoffs against Port Elgin and Clinton's abilities and spirits are at the highest point this season. The best of three series is the 'Stangs first step in the long climb to hockey supremacy. The News -Record, through the generosity of many local merchants and businessmen, is proud to present the players and executive of the 1978-79 Clinton Mustangs. All join in wishing the Mustangs the bestof luck in the playoffs, and hope their fans will return to the arena for some exciting hockey action in the next few weeks. Sly has been with the club nearly ten years, since its inception as a Junior "D" club arid its advancement to Junior The Mustangs' veteran player, Paui, Priestap, 20, has been with the team, four years. As captain, Paul standt-4410n, weighs 170 pounds and plays centre. The Clinton native gained his minor hockey experience here and now works at Bendix Home Systems. A resideint of Goderich where he works at the Bluewater Centre, Don has coached minor hockey in 3roderich, and also played for the oderich Oldtimers Hockey team. Captain Left Wing, No. 18 Assistant captain Tim McLean, 19, is in his third year with the Mustangs. The right winger weighs 180 pounds and stands six feet. The Goderich native played his minor hockey there and now attends Fanshawe College. Assistant captain, Bill Lewis, 19, comes to the Mustangs for his first year from Goderich. The left winger is 5'11" and weighs 165 pounds. The London native played minor hockey in Lucan and Goderich. He 'now works at Zehr's in Goderich. Mike Gibbings, 20, who plays defence, stands 6'1" and weighs in at 165 pounds. A product of the Clinton minor hockey system, Mike is in his third year with the Mustangs. He attends Fanshawe College in London. CLINTON BODY SHOP 73 Mary Sreet CARL COX 379 VICTORIA ST. A product of the Goderich minor hockey program, Paul Dougherty, 18, is playing his first year as centre with the Mustangs. Standing 5'10" and weighing 155 pounds the Goderich native attends GDCI. In his second year with the Mustangs, Paul Helesic, 18, stands 5'10" and weighs 170 pounds. The Goderich native played his minor hockey there and now plays right wing for the Mustangs. Paul works at Champion Road Machinery Limited. In his first year with the Mustangs, Phil Arthur, 19, of Goderich plays centre and works at Fisher Custom Builders.
