President Helen Lawson welcomed all and said grace. After dinner, Helen read a poem "Christmas time is" and members ' in- troduced their guests. Margaret Anderson, program convener, chose as her theme, "the night of all nights", and in- cluded a solo "Holy Night" by Ruth Vincent. Passages of scripture were read by Marg and hymns - fitting the scripture were sung with Gail Lear at the piano. All clasped hands and'Hattie Wood led in prayer. Duets were sung by Laurel and Lisa Duizer "others" and "Christmas Day". Helen Lawson 'thanked all who had helped with the evening and all for the help during her three years as president. She pinned a corsage on Edythe Beacom, the new president and closed with the readings, "first Christmas night of all" and "take time". United Church news Welcoming on Sunday morning were Reg Lawson and Harry Snell, Ushers were Bob Jamieson, Bruce Hunking, Kevin Tamblyn and Kiln Radford. Opening the carol service were Mrs. Louise McGregor, organist and Mrs. Majorie Duizer, junior choir leader. Junior choir numbers were "others" and "Christmas Day". The children's story was "a boy gets $1 to buy gifts and he shares it". Junior teachers were Mrs, Jean Kennedy and Susan Jamieson. Rev. McDonald's message was "The Gospel of Christmas and Calvary". Two ' Advent Candles were lit by Lisa Storey, and John Deeves read the • Epistle. The offering was received by James Storey and John Deeves. The White gifts were taken to Family Services in Goderich by James Storey. Rev. Wm. Ben- nett was in charge of the service, The ACW of St. James Middleton will,hold their Christmas meeting Thursday at the home of Blanche Deeves. All annual reports are to be presented. _ So,rry to report little Debbie Smith, daughter of Bill and Lois Smith is a patient in Children's Hospital, London. Get well wishes go to Debbie. We are sorry to hear Bill Chowen is a patient.in Clinton Hospital. • old time Christmas concert will be held Friday, December 15th at 8 p.m. Lions turkey bingo The Lions Club Turkey Bingo was held on Friday night, December 8th and was well attended. The 12 turkey winners were: Mrs. Nellie Burkholder, Mrs. Sid McCullough, Debbie Bromley, Lorri Halloway, Mrs, Jck Riley, Mrs. Don Buchanan, Debbie Bromley, Mrs. Harold East, Mrs, Wayne Kennedy, Mrs. Bill Steepe, Mrs. Jim Howatt and Mrs. Joe Shaddick. Three specials were: $18 Mrs. Eric Anderson; $9 Debbie Bromley and $9 Mrs. Bill Steepe; $18 Mrs. Ruth Vincent. The Christmas box donated to the Lions was won by Mrs. Bill Logne and the $75 jackpot was won by Ed Sturgeon. The Lions Club would like to thank all who attended making it such a success. " Personals Mrs. Jack Snell returned home on Saturday, December 9 from spending two weeks In St. Joseph's Hospital, London, following hip surgery. Mr. Bert Shobbrook was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital, London on Saturday, December 9th. Congratulations to Pat and Pearl Mason when their family honored them on their 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday night at 'the Blyth and District Comhiunity Centre. A large number from here attended. Mrs. Isabel George of Edmonton, Alberta visited last week with her aunt, Mrs. Myrtle Fairservice and other relations in the vicinity. Friends were pleased to see Mr. and Mrs. Mac Sewers from Minesing at church Sunday morning. They spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pipe. Mrs. Ida Durnin spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J, D. Durnin at St, Helens. Mrs. AgnesSkimmins of Blyth spent Monday with Mrs. Ida Durnin. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Burleigh of Goderich visited Sunday afternoon with her sister Mr, and Mrs. Harold Londman. Norman Alexander attended the "Peoples Food Commission" meeting in London on December 2 and 3 where briefs were presented by many churches, other organizations and in- dividuals. On Tuesday, December 5 he was among those presenting briefs at the International Joint Commission hearings in Chatham. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Shobbrook visited Monday afternoon with Mr. Bert Shobbrook at St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Miss Vaughan Hunking returned home on Sunday from spending a week in Florida. Rebekahs plan party with the Oddfellows Huronic Rebekah lodge held their regular meeting on Dec. 4 with a good attendance. Mrs. Norma Ashton, N.G. was in charge of the meeting, assisted by Mrs, Muriel Lockart V.G. Plans were made for card party on December 7, and after the meeting, the Christmas party was held with the Oddfellows as guests.
