AF and AM Ladies' night The Hullett AF and AM ladies' night, was held on November 27 when the Lonliesboro UCW served a hot beef dinner with 68 plates served. 'Worshipful Brother Harry Tebbutt was the master of ceremonies for the evening. Rev. Stan McDonald gave the blessing and following the. "'' Dance On Friday, December 1 Willett held a dance for pupils of Grades 7 and 8. Everyone could bring a friend. This was the school's second dance. very.one enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Interviews On 'Tuesday, November 4p, parent, teacher in- terviews were held, during the evening at Hullett. They were also held during the day on 'ednesday. :Each parent had 10 minutes with the teacher she wanted to talk With. Coffee was provided for the parents, in the kit- chen. The teachers and parents benefited from their discussions. Nutrition assembly On Thursday, November 30 an assembly was held for Grades 5-8. Mrs. Thompson, • Huron County's nutritionist came and talked ' to the pupils on the subjects of nutrition and par- ticipation. Two films were shown on nutrition. Hopefully we will improve our eating habits in the future. Hullett lady dies r MRS. She taught school in Essex for seven years. On June 30, 1931 ,she married Harry M. Woolley, 66, of l3rucefield, received minor injuries on i14ovember 26 when the tractor he was riding was struck ;by a car outside of Brucefield. Martin Baker, 17, of Brttcefield vias eastbound on -County Road 3, 1.2 km. outside of the village, when his car struck the rear of a trailer being pulled by Mt. Woolley. McCallum Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements. A funeral service was held at St. George's Anglican Church on Thursday, November 30 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Robert J. Crocker officiated. Interment was in the Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. Pallbearers were Graham Yeats, Scott Little, Greg Little, Larry Gibbings, Robert Baech4r and Kevin Bundy. A reply was heard from the Right Worshipful Brother Jim Neilans. Worshipful Brother Tebbutt gave a toast to the 'ladies and Jessie Tebbutt replied. The UCW group was given a vote of thanks for the lovely dinner and afterwards the group went to the upper hall where Brother Allan Bosman introduced the guest speakers, Steve and Rosemarie Cooke who showed slides on their safari trip to Africa. Following their in- teresting presentation, the evening ended with a few games of cards. Explorers meet The fifth meeting of the Explorer group was held on November 23 with 20 girls present. Marni Gibbings and Carolyn Dougherty presented the Explorer Emblem. ,Debbie Preszcator showed the pictures. Mrs. Wright told a story about Christmas in Japan. After that the girls compared Christ- mas in Canada to the holiday.in Japan. WI card party There were`six tables in play on Friday night at the WI card party. The winners , were: ladies' ' high, June Fothergill; lone hands, Marjorie Anderson; ladies' 'low, Margaret: Taylor; men's ,high, Don Howes; lone hands, Cliff Saundercock; men's low, Reg. Lawson; most zeros, Ken Hulley; 'lucky cup, June Fothergill. • Marg Anderson, Vi Burns and Helen Lawson were in -charge of the evening. United news The United Church's annual Christmas pageant and White Gift Sunday was held last Sunday morning. Despite the freezing rain and the bad roads, there was a good attendance at the service. Laura Lyon -.and .Garnet. .. Wright welcomed the congregation into the sanctuary. The people were ushered into the church by Cheryl Hulley, Lisa Preszcator, Robert Radford and David Stevenson. The music for the service was presented by the 30 member junior choir, under the direction of Mrs. Tom Duizer and Mrs. Harry Lear at the organ. The organ and piano. prelude were played by Mrs. blenn McGregor and Mrs. Harry Lear. The reading parts of the pageant were taken by the intermediate grades of the Sunday School with ' solos, choruses and speech choir presentations given. Laurie and Lisa Duizer sang a duet and the girl's chorus sang a Christmas carol. Kelly Bosman, Shannon Duizer and Lloyann Adams sang a number, then the choir, with a variation of boy's and girl's choruses presented a number of pieces. Stan McDonald gave the antiphonal reading and the, service then closed with a hymn and the benediction. Appreciation goes to the Sunday School- staff -and the junior choir leaders for their help. The flowers on the memorial stand were placed in memory of Jack Nesbitt by his son Carl, Lena and family. The flowers on the piano were placed in memory of Harry Watkins by his wife Hazel and the family. Rev. McDonald ex- pressed his thanks to all who willingly took the responsiblities of the service while he was in the hospital. Lions Club ladies night The Lions Club ladies' night was held on November 15. Dinner was served by the WI and entertainment was provided by Joe Hunking and Tom Duizer. 'Personals Sympathy is extended to -1Wlr. and Mrs. Carl 'Nesbitt on the death of his father, Jack Nesbitt, at the Happy Hours Boarding Home in Walkerton. He was in his 75th year. We're glad to report that Rev. McDonald is home after being ad- mitted to, Clinton Public Hospital last Tuesday. Mr, and .
