The $120,000 worth of work, which includes up- dating the fire safety standards, is being carried out by Bratt Construction of London. The plans were approved by the provincial government, who only two years ago tried to close the hospital. She now resides on Goderich Street in the village of Auburn. LIONS MEETING Lion President Bud Chamney presided for the meeting held last Wed- nesday evening in the Auburn Community Memorial Hall. The minutes were accepted on motion of Lion Terry Powell and Lion Fred Lawrence. Lion Jim Schneider gave the financial statement giving a review of each account. Lion President Bud presented Lion Fred Lawrence and Lion Clare Millian with a pin for bringing in new members last spring. The meeting was ad- journed on motion of Lion Fred, Lawrence and Lion Steve Campbell CHILDREN'S WORKSHOP Twenty-four children between 8 and 13 years of age attended the Children's Workshop last , Thursday evening in the Community Memorial Hall. ThAlcler group, 11 to 13 years of age, with their instructors Ross Robinson and Jim Schneider, started on the Nativity scene. The younger group continued to work on the lawn or- naments which will be for sale to .help support the projects. In order to finance these projects, the children are going on a pop bottle drive on, Saturday, November 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If anyone wishes to help from the country, please leave their bottles at the home of Sandy Andrews or Jim Schneider. Several teenagers (14 to 18) have expressed a desire to do something also. If enough are in- terested to help prepare for next year's birthday party celebration, it is hoped that a Youth Club could be formed. If you wish to help, please contact any of the leaders and make your wishes known and come out this Thursday evening. Admission is 25 cents per child to help with sup- plies. Popcorn and punch are for sale also. CORRECTION The Walkerburn Club meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs. Ronald Gross not at the home of Mrs. Carmen Gross as previously reported on Tuesday, November 28. Sorry if this caused any inconvenience. 4-H NEWS The seventh and final meeting of Auburn I was held at the home of the leader, Mrs. John Hildebrand and was ,opened with the 4-H pledge. Vickie Rodger was in charge. Lisa Rodger read the minutes and 'Mrs. Hildebrand checked several note -books. It was decided that Vickie Rodger and Shelley Powell would be commentators for the exhibit at Achievement Day. A meeting is called for December 4 to work on the exhibit. Meals and meal planning were discussed and the girls made up a commercial on nutrition. Vickie closed the meeting with the 4-H motto. Miss Trudy Machan, a student at Fanshawe College, London spent the weekend at her home with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Keith Machan and sister Miss Tracey Machan. The community is pleased to report that Mrs. James Towe was able to come home on the weekend after several weeks as a patient in Clinton Public Hospital. Congratulations to Mr. and -Mrs. Wayne Scott (nee Marie Ferguson) who were married last Saturday in Goderich. Several from here were guests at the wedding and the reception held at the White Carnatiopt, ' Mrs. Johri Haam is a patient in Clinton -Public Hospital. She is wished a quick recovery. Miss Monica Hebert underwent surgery on her finger last Saturday in University Hospital, London following an accident in the hall when it was stepped on. Mr. and Mrs. George Rueger, Danny, Terry and Wendy of London visited last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cartwright, David, Derrick and Lode, Little Miss Leslie Lawrence was taken to University Hospital last Friday night where she received stitches above her eye following an accident at her home. • Don't forget the annual Family Night which will be held on December 1. All Women's Institute and Horticulture members please plan to be present with your families. Mrs. Fred Bancroft of Mount Forest and Mrs. Horace Emery of Stratford visited last Saturday with Mrs. Albert McFarlane. The new T-shirts with the Auburn crest designed for the 125th birthday party have arrived in many sizes and colours and are on display in the former beauty shop on Goderich street. Don't delay too long or your size may, be gone. They will make excellent Christmas gifts. Mrs. Sam Squire, David, Jeffrey and Peter of Alliston spent a few days last week with Mrs. Beth Lansing. Winners at last week's euchre party were: high lady - Mrs. Albert McFarlane; low lady - Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson; high man - Bert Medd; low man - Warner Andrews and novelty - Cathy Rodv. Miss Faye Seers has accepted a position on the nursing staff of Victoria Hospital and left this week to take up her duties. The community is sorry to report that Miss Laura Wagner is a patient in University Hospital, London where she had surgery on her fractured hip. She is wished a speedy recovery. A • • •
