During this time any person can bring directly to their local police chief any unregistered. ',restricted weapons. The Police and OPP have been having numerous calls regarding the firearm amnesty for the month of November 1978. The following in- formation is outlined for the public's information. Sporting rifles and shotguns do not have to be registered, including 12 gauge shotguns, 22 rifles etc. Prohibited weapons are machine guns, fully automatic weapons, sawed off shot guns or rifles with barrels less than 18" and an overall length of 26 inches. In addition the foliowing have been classifed as prohibited: switch blade knives, various martial arts, weapons such as Shuriken, Nanchaku, Kusari, finger rings, constant companion (being a belt containing a concealed knife), spike wrist band, blow gun. Any person in possession of any of the above weapons are requested to turn them in at the nearest police office as soon as possible. Failure to do so during amnesty month could result in a fine or im- prisonment of up to five years, at a later date. Restricted weapons are semi automatic weapons with barrels less than 181/2 inches in length and pistols, revolvers, any weapon designed to be fired by one hand. Others include Com- mando Mark III, Com- mando Mark IV and V Auto loading 12 gauge shotgun known as High Standard Model 10 series A & B Semi automatic rifle known as Colt AR15.,• To own any of the above firearms, you must meet certain standards and obtain a registration certificate from the police. As of January 1, 1979 legislation requires that all persons aged 16 and over who acquire possession of a firearm in any manner (im- portation, purchase, loan or as a gift) must first obtain a firearm acquisition certificate from police. A FAC - firearm acquisition certificate is valid throughout Canada for a five year period from the date of issue for a feeof$10. Knights mark Retnembran.ce Sunday evening, the Seaforth Council number 5289 chambers was the setting for the annual Remembrance service panned by the council program director and church activities chairman Ewart Wilson for departed brothers who passed away during the past year, William Cleery and Peter Jordan. Reverend Father Oostveen, pastor of St.. Columban parish, con- ducted the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and Cathy Murray, provided the music for the choir of Knights. 'The Memorial service was then exemplified by the Grand Knight Seamus Doherty and his Executive Officers. John 'Flannery read the Eulogy for our departed brother W lligr�n Cleery and Ted Doyle read the Eulogy for Peter Snrdan.
