Busy week at Legion
By Rene Brochu
It was truly a
memorable Legion Week
as it started off with the
poppy drive fast Wed-
nesday evening. Although
the number of canvassers
was sorely depleted in
some areas, the intake
wasn't depleted as the
poppy drive netted
roughly $800.
Congratulations to poppy
chairman Russ Philips
who engineered the drive.
Many helpers were on
hand this day, thanks to
their efforts and that of
the area co-ordinators for
a fine display of Legion
work.
For anyone who missed
the poppy drive, most
businesses in Clinton and
area have poppy boxes
readily available, we
hope to ' see everyone
wearing a poppy on
November 11.
Comrade President
John Semple extends to
all people in the Clinton
area a personal invitation
to attend the Legion
Memorial Service in our
Legion Hall on November
11 at 9:30 a.m. under the
direction of acting branch
chaplain, Reverend

We hope all Legion
members can participate'
in the Legion service and
parade which forms up at
the Legion at ap-
proximately 10:30 a.m.
It's one way of remem-
bering our fallen
Comrades as well as our
disabled veterans and it's
only once a year.
Friday night was
another successful TGIF
night, and John McKay
was the winner of the
raffle prize which con-
sisted of an attractive
wine hamper, Comrade
Derek Adshead was not
so fortunate and he had
failed to register.
The dart club and
men's euchre club were
at it again this past week
with a good attendance
for both events.
Saturday evening our
"associates" came up
with another dandy
party. The auditorium
was tastefully decorated
in the Fall Theme by
mavolunteer hank.
Hatsny off once again to

another beautiful fall day

Dick McKaY formed up
the troops. fed off the
parade followed by the
members of the Legion
and Auxiliary' The color
sgt. was Ivan Hoggart,
Legion colors were
carried by Frank Pyke
and George Yeats, while
Gladys East and Helen
Bisback did the honors
for the Ladies Auxiliary.
The service and homily
delivered by Reverend
Father Hardy was so
impressive that it has
been written up as
separate article.
Following the Mass, the
Legion Service took
place, with President
John Semple laying the

Altar. Trumpeter John
Wise played the "Last
