Those who have attended plays in the past seasons will know what a welcome addition this will be, especially on those really hot summer evenings. If all goes according to plan, the air conditioning will be ready for opening night on July 7. The air conditioning cost is scat at $37,000 and it is the,- first stage of renovations to the theatre totalling over $200,000. Fund-raising for the air conditioning and for the season is now underway. To this date, the Festival has received donations from several sources, including $5,000 from the Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Family Foundation previously donated $4,000 for publicity purposes, printing of posters and brochures, etc.). The Hiram Walker Company has donated $500 , and a Targe sum is expected from the Capital Support Branch of the Ministry of Culture and Recreation. Preparations for the 1978 season are in full swing at The Blyth Summer Festival. (VVL,v ii.Oo Art exhibits at Blyth The Blyth Centre for the Arts Art Gallery will be in the building im- mediately south of the Blyth Memorial Hall. Two art exhibitions will be held this" summer through the CONTACT program of the Art Gallery of Ontario Extension Department. The first exhibit, July 1 to July 25, will be wood engravings of G. Brender a Brandis. The exhibition includes examples of wood blocks and engraving tools as well as a selection of his fin wood prints of the Ontario countryside. From July 26 until August 30, the water colours and oils of Doris McCarthy, painted during her trips to the Arctic regions, will be displayed. CONTACT has been realized in direct response to the needs of communities which in the past have not had the space or facilities to house exhibitions cir- culated by Extension services. This title en- compasses a number, of small -sized exhibits of works by Canadian ar- tists. CONTACT is made possible by assistance from the National Museums Corporation, Ottawa, with additional funding from Outreach Ontario (Ministry of Culture and Recreation).
