Seniors entertain other groups
On Thursday, the Bayfield
Ever Young Club entertained
the Golden Gate Seniors from
Goderich in Trinity Church
Parish Hall. A film on Alberta
was presented and af-
terwards several games of
euchre were enjoyed.
Ladies high prize went to
Mary Clark; ladies low to
Mary Harmon, Goderich
mens high, Wilmer Harrison,
Goderich; men's low, Elmer
Graham, Goderich. A special
ladies' prize went to Stella
McPhee, Goderich and the
special men's prize was won
by Jessie Blair. The ladies of
the Clan Gregor Apartments
served a delicious lunch and
all departed for home feeling
that a good time was had by
all.
Seventeen members an-
swered the roll call at the
Trinity Guild meeting in the
Parish Hall Tuesday af-
ternoon May 9. President
Lorna Merner opened the
meeting. Vina Parker read
the Bible reading for
Mother's Day. Mother's Day
poems were read by the
president who also read a
letter from the Guilds' foster
son in India. Margaret Lynn
offered to write a letter to the
foster son in June. During the
business session, the Guild
moved to pay for the painting
of the outside of the church.
The ladies are reminded to
meet at the church by 2:30
p.m. on June 13 for tran-
sportation to Ruth Mut-
zelburg's home for their
annual pot luck luncheon and
meeting. Following grace,
Fern Baker and Mabel Reed
served a lovely lunch.
Twenty-five members of
the Bayfield Ever Young Club
were entertained Monday
night last by the Zurich
Senior Citizens Club in the
Town Hall in Zurich. The hall
was filled to capacity and
were entertained by Martha
and Earl Heywood of CKNX
Wingham. They presented a
wonderful program of music
and song and Earl did his bit
as a magician which was
enjoyed by all. Numerous
prizes were given and the
hostess club served a
delicious lunch.
Soccer team wins first game
Monday night, the Bayfield
Soccer team played its first
game of the season against a
new team from Vanastra and
won 3to1.
Andrew Couper is
Bayfield's new coach this
season but Fred Gale is still
the manager and he is also
the coach of the Vanastra
team. As a matter of interest,
Vanastra has three girls on
its team and the goalie is
Linda McFadden who ac-
cording to Fred does a real
good job considering its her
first year at soccer.
During the weekend, the
Bayfield soccer team and the
baseball teams were busy
putting in new goal posts and
moving the field to make it
more convenient for both the
soccer and ball.
Provincial winners at the recent 4-H Achievement Day were, front row, left to right,
Donna Cole, Barb Hesk, Carolyn Van Dorp and Shirley McClure. Back row, Susan Fuller,
Karen Rodges, Marjorie de Boer and Kathy Peck. The girls each completed 12 projects.

The residents of the village
are reminded that Monday,
May 22 being a holiday there
will be no garbage pickup.
However, the garbage will be
picked up on Tuesday May 23
and also there will be a trash
pick up the same day. You
are asked to keep your
garbage and trash separate.
Our very sincerest wishes
are extended to Perce and
Clara Johnston on the oc-
casion of their Golden wed-
ding anniversary. A family
dinner for over 50 was held in
St. Andrews United Church
on Saturday evening with
open house on Sunday. The
community wishes you many
more happy years together.

Mr. Robert Barnes, London
visited Sunday with.his sister
Kay McLeod, Donald and
John.
Jim Murray of near Varna
has found time between
gardening and his toy trains
to put on his (summer) storm
windows. (We understand he
had some assistance from a
couple who helped him with
his garden weeding some
time ago.)
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dunn,
Bobby, Allison, Angela and
Andrew spent Sunday in
London with her mother, Mrs.
Leona McKellar.
Mrs. Myrtle Pease and
Irvin, London were at their
village residence for the
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Matt Nediger
spent the weekend in Toronto
with their son Bill, Mrs.
Nediger and family.
Mrs. Berthena Hammond
visited several days last week
with her sister Audrey, Ed
Florian and Dennis in Clin-
ton.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Dinel,
Tracey and Erin, London
were Sunday guests of her
mother, Mrs. Maude Weston.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Scotchmer, Robert, Lori and
Carolyn, Chatham spent
Mother's Day and the
weekend at their home in the
village.
Congratulations to Bobby
Dunn who was presented with
his five star trophy on
Saturday by Cub leader Carol
Fisher. Bobby was the top
cub , in the Bayfield Cub Pack
and is the eldest son of proud
parents Ted and Jean Dunn.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Beatty
and family of Toronto spent
the weekend at their cottage
in the village.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cluff,
Rob and Tara, London were
at their home in the Village
for the weekend.
Bradley Haw of Palmer-
ston will be celebrating his
10th birthday on Monday,
along with his parents, Don
and Marilyn and sisters Anne
and Cathy; Grandma Haw
and Uncle Bill Heard will also
be present for the occasion.

Mrs. Margaret Garrett and
John spent Mother's Day at
the home of her mother, Mrs.
Tom Handy and Tom in
Seaforth. Also present were
Gladys, Mrs. Jack Van
Egmond; Jack and Susan of
R.R. 1, Clinton.
Congratulations to John
and Alice Marks who on
Monday, May 15th observed
their second wedding an-
niversary at a party at the
Albion Hotel. Many friends
were present for the occasion
when flowers and gifts were
presented to the couple. Also
presented was a beautiful
anniversary cake, fashioned
as an open Bible. The couple
are wished many more years
of wedded bliss. As well, it
was the birthday of the bride
who was also feted on the
special occasion with cards,
flowers and gifts. Friends
were present from Dash-
wood, London, Bayfield and
area.
Miss Karen Garrett and
friend of London visited
Sunday with her cousin Miss
Diane Garrett.
Cub leader Carol Fisher
presented trophies and
awards to cubs in the
Bayfield Pack on Saturday
morning. Highest points
achieved was Bobby Dunn
who left the Cub Pack as a
five Star Cub. Tied for second
place was Billy Sinnamon and
Brian Fisher. Third place
went to Joey Fansher and
Robert Rau won fourth place
award. The Honour. Six for
this Cub season went to the
Brown Six consisting of
Bobby Dunn, Billy Si'nnamon,
John Sauve, Robert Rau,
Mark Westlake, Mark
Denomme and Simon Mould.
The Cubs are reminded that
Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
they are to meet at Pioneer
Park with their lunch and a
rake for their annual clean-up
as their service project for

labrador who has been
missing since Friday last. He
was minus his collar and tag
since they "went missing"
the week previous. Please if
yoti know where Brutus is
visiting or any information
regarding this dog, will you
please call his owners. Brutus
is certainly missed by his
owners who have , been
combing the streets, beaches,
by -ways etc. since he became
missing. He is a family pet
and sorely missed by his
"family."

UCWplan bake sale
With the devotions theme
on Mother's Day, Marilyn
Haw and Jean Dunn opened
the May 10 meeting of Unit 11,
St. Andrew's UCW held at the
home of Kathleen Siertsema.
President Carol Fisher
conducted the business and
plans were made for the
following spring activities.
May 20, a Bake Sale at 11 a.m.
members are reminded to
bring two items to be priced
to Ruth Makins Lawn by 10
a.m. In the case of rain the
bake sale will be held in,the
church.
June 10, the UCW members
were asked for billetings .for
the Junior Choir, numbering
about 45 from Kingsway
Lampton Church of Toronto.
They will be providing the
entire church service in St.
Andrews on Sunday morning
June 11. Anyone interested in
billeting these young people
aged 8 to.15 years is asked to
contact Betty Burch at 565-

Bridal showers are planned
for Jacqueline Koene for this
evening (May 18) and for
Catherine Westlake on July 5.

Sung Mattins was observed
in Trinity Anglican Church
Sunday morning with Rector
Rev. William Bennett in
charge. Alfred McLaughlin
read the lesson
Philip DuBoulay reported
on the 120th session of Synod
as one of the lay delegates
from Trinity, which he had
attended last weekend in
London. Morgan Smith and
Harry Baker collected the
offering and Cindy Cluff and
Dawn Merner taught Sunday
School and assisted the
children in making lovely
Mother's Day cards. The
flowers in the sanctuary were
given by Judge Tom and
Marianne Arkell and family
in memory of Daisy Arkell
and also in memory of
William (Bill) Cluff by his
family

Church Camp. It offers a full
camping experience for the
young people of the Diocese,
between the ages of 8 and 16
years. Parents are en-
couraged to consider this
Christian experience for their
children.

the the area, the church
wishes to make available a
