(photo by Milvena Erickson) Baptist church hosts JJ2MF sprspring rally By Janet Talbot The annual spring rally of the Baptist Church Women# Missionary Fellowship was held at Bayfield Baptist Church on Tuesday evening with women from Exeter, Seaforth, and Goderich as guests. The president, Mrs. Phyllis Nicholson, was in charge of a very inspiring program with Mrs. Ann Chapman reading the Bible passage followed with prayer led by Mrs. Janet Talbot. Two lovely poems were read by Mrs. Stainton from Goderich, she also composed these poems. Mrs. Julie Embling of Seaforth rendered a beautiful solo. The music for the evening was provided by Mrs. Cathi Cullen at the organ and Miss Shirley Keys the piano. Mrs. Benn from London addressed the crowd as church women, but more important as Christian women and what is important to them. She said two things are eternal, the Word of God and people. As women we need to meditate on the Word the Comings and goings about the village ,Mr. .and Mrs. Don Lance, Royal Oak, Mich. are spending a few days at their Antique Shop and home on Main St. Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau were the weekend guests of their family, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cluff, Rob and Tara in London. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard F. Sturgeon, Jeff and Rollie, Orangeville spent the weekend at their home in the Village. Mrs. Don Turner, Hamilton, visited for a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Russel Heard. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Beatty have returned to their Village home after spending a few months at their winter home in Fort Myers, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heard, Stratford visited Sunday with the Heard and Haw families. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey MacDougall have returned to their residence in the Village after spending several months in the sunny south. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Betty Ann Winstone, London visited Monday af- ternoon with her mother, Mrs. Evelene Earl. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Sturgeon spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson in Windsor. Mr. Irvine Pease, London was at his Village -home for the weekend. • Master Dennis Florian, Clinton was a weekend guest of his aunt, Mrs. Berthena Hammond. Mrs. Hammond accompanied him to his home and remained for a few days with him and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Florian. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scotchmer, Robert, Lori and Carolyn, Chatham spent the weekend at their home in the Village. Very best- wishes are ex- tended to Mi. Jack Tillmann, who is "confined in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker Jr., Lo:idon, and daughter Jennifer visited for the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker Sr. Mrs. Reed Kowalchuk, the former Linda Campbell who were married Saturday in St. Andrew's United Church. We are very pleased to• report that Mrs. Myrtle Pease who has been a patient in Clinton Public Hospital Anglican church Mr. Harry Baker lesson Mrs. Vera Miller was guest organist. Cindy Cluff and Dawn Merner taught Sunday School. Canon F.H. Paull was guest preacher and officiant in Trinity Anglican Church Sunday for both the Holy Communion Service at 8 a.m. and the regular Mattins at 10 read the News from Middleton by Blanche Deeves Morning prayer was held in St. James Church, Middleton. Flowers in the church were in memory of the late Constance Colclouth by her family. Vera Miller read the lesson, while Ray Wise and Don Middleton received the of- fering. Canon Paull of Bayfield was the guest minister Social Notes Drew Middleton is home for the summer from the University of Western Ontario. Roy Freeman is out of Clinton Hospital and we all wish him well. Our sympathy from the community goes to , the' Colclough family in the loss of their mother, Mrs. Wilfred Colclough. Get well wishes to Kim Diehl who was in a car ac- cident. Kim is the grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Heitbohmer. Many farmers in the area are busy on the land after a long delay in the nice weather. Hope to see a better control on the packs of dogs that are running at large in the area. Many have tied their dogs up in our immediate area, but not before they were attacked by the wandering dogs. Best wishes go to the young couple. Mr. and Mrs. Norm Talbot spent Friday night and Saturday with their son and family, Hugh and Judy Talbot and Deanna and Marshal, in St. Thomas. They had their first graduation exercises last Friday. They are training future leaders and ministers here, and there is much thanksgiving for all of God's blessions. • The meeting was , closed with prayer by Mrs. Ann Kerr and a lovely lunch was served by the Hostess Church. Sunday Services at the Bayfield Baptist Church were very well attended with Rev. Ivor Bodenham as guest speaker, who used the third chapter of Romans, verses 19 to 24 as his text and special attention to verse 23, stressing Redemption. The results of redemption are: we are justified before God have assurance of God's love, forgiveness of sin, and the wonderful peace that only comes from God, with a beautiful climax of Heaven with God. Musings from the Lions club That ... Hats are off to Lion Eric and all those who helped with Ladies Night Friday Night held at the Legion Hall in Clinton. It was as always a roaring success, and from all reports from the ladies, a most enjoyable evening. That ... To make a long story short, the dog was sold in a tavern for $20 and the buyer returned it to the rightful owner, after an extensive campaign by the media. To honour the good samaritan who returned the dog, the Waterloo Lions have advised Wally Crouter of CFRB radio in Toronto, that they would donate $20 to the Leader Dog School in Rochester, Michigan, and they challenge every other club in district "A" to do the same thing.
