Our trip to Toronto
by JoAnn Bernard,
9 years
On Saturday, March 4, the
Brownies and Guides went to
Toronto. We had to be at the
Vanastra Church by 8 a.m.
sharp to catch the bus. On the
way to Toronto, we sang
songs and found new friends.
When we got there, we went
to the CN Tower first, but it
was too busy so we went to
Casa Loma. We walked about
a mile and a quarter and only
covered about 20 rooms. We
went up these winding stairs
and Katherine froze on them.
At last a man persuaded her
down and that was a relief.
Then we went into the
souvenir shop and it was
packed but at last we each got
something.
At last we went to the CN
Tower and the elevators went
up 20 feet per second. When
we got up we could see all
over Toronto and if we knew
where to look, we could see
Kitchener. When we came
down, we saw this big clown
on stilts who was handing out
various shaped balloons.
After that we went to
McDonalds in Kitcheper.
Mostly everyone got a
McDonalds eraser.
We were sunnosed to be
home at 7 p.m. but got home
at 10 p.m. Then we got to.the
church some people were
sleeping. When I got to my
house I went right to bed and
had a good night's rest.

Plant care at resource centre
The Vanastra Resource
Center held a very successful
seasonal program on plants
and their care. The demon-
strator was Sandra Pitt, from
Sandra's Market Garden in
Port Elgin. Assisting her was
Ann Taylor from Cargill.
Sandra brought with her a
roomful of plants and gave an
interesting and informative
talk on their care. We were
impressed with the abun-
dance of information Sandra
had, plus the good advice on
caring for them. The plants
Car pool dries up
For the month of March our
car pool was ready and
operating. Drivers had
volunteered their services
and much preparation had
gone into the planning of this
service.
Unfortunately , no one
needed a ride into Clinton, so
this service must therefore be
assumeid not necessary and
will be discontinued. We
would like to thank the
drivers that volunteered their
cars and we really appreciate
their support.
If in the future there is felt a
need expressed for. this type
of service, we would be
pleased to consider all
aspects pertaining to tran-
sportation.
On Friday, March 31st, the
mini -teen club met at the

Church news
Your reporter wishes to
apologize for not reporting in
last weeks paper. It seems
that the Easter rush finally
caught up with him and made
it impossible to print
anything last Tuesday.
This week, the elves are
back at their typewriter
again. Easter Sunday was a
real joy for all of us. We
celebrated the ressurection of
Jesus with the choir singing
"Allelu", special Easter
hymns, a message on a
ressurection promise "Lo 1
am With You Always", and

she brought were in beautiful
condition and many were sold
to the viewers present.
We'd like to express our
appreciation to Sandra and
Ann for putting on such an
excellent demonstration.
Because of the demand for a
repeat of this session, we will
have Sandra back in the
afternoon of April 13th. Her
show will begin at 1:30. She is
planning a demonstration on
landscaping and will be of-
fering more tips for your
plants and gardents, indoors
and outdoors.
All are welcome to attend
this next session on Thursday
April 13 at 1:30 p.m. We are
sure it will be an enjoyable
afternoon.
