On Novernber 17 the team travelled to Wingham - where „ir they lost a game 5-3. The boys were playing a good game after two periods and were leading 3-1, but Wingham came back in the last period to overtake them. The W' ham team scored three oa s in 90 seconds to win the game. Scorers for Clinton were SeAtt Van Dongen with two goals, and Pete Denomme with a single. However, the Clinton team came back two nights later when they played host to the Mitchell team and won 4-0. The boys played a strong game and everyone played hard, as the final score showed. Scott Kay got a pair of goals for Clinton, Pete Denomme had a single as did Sean Van Dongen. On November 26 the team travelled to Seaforth and were down 4-0 after two periods. However they came back strong in the last period with four goals, but still faced a loss to Seaforth by a score of 6-4. Sean Van Dongen and Pete Denomme were the scorers for Clinton with two goals each. After a slow start last Tuesday evening, the Clinton team came back to beat Mitchell by a 3-2 count. The Clinton boys started the first period by letting two Mitchell goals by, but came back in the second with two goals of their own, leaving the score at the end of the second, 2-2. At the 9:25 mark in the third period, Clinton pulled ahead by one goal to win the game. Single goals went to Pete Denomme, Scott Harris and Randy Marriage. The Earthquakers are still in first place with 59 points and the Wandering Five are in second with 53. The team standings remain close down the line with Cooper's Angels, 52 points; Merry Mixers, 50; Joan's Pin Poppers and the Foxy Bunch, 48 points ; 'the Fantastic "5", 47; Davey's Dumplings, 43. Londesboro Ladies The Ding Dongs have 45 points for first place and the Dreamers have 41 for second in the team standings. The Dumbells are still third with 38 and the Doolittles are in last place with 30 points. Reino Wilts had the high single with 368 and Dorothy Carter took the high triple with 699 and the high average with 195. Molson's Crown Mixed Bruce's Buddies have moved up from third place to take the lead with 36 points, leaving the Do Goods behind with 34 and the James Gang This year our NST chair- man Norma Preszcator has set up a colour coded system whereby each skater wears their name tag in a special colour which indicates their particular skating group. Now a strayed three or four year old should be more easily identified and returned to his own group, thus reducing any frustration both for the child and the ice captain. . Each group has one or more amateur coaches who has had special training for this work. The senior skaters usually take care of this, but this year, due to the en- couraging larger enrolment, extra help was required. Aid has come forth from former members, Sylvia Forbes and Debbie Jones. The groups and coaches are: three -year-old beginners with Jane Symons assisted by Karen Cook and Jennifer Woods; four-year- old beginners with Peggy Jones assisted by Cheryl Beane and Dawn Flynn; five- year-old beginners with Sylvia Forbes assisted by Erica Lyons and Mary Gibson; six and seven year old beginners Group A with Judy Johnston; seven and eight year old beginners Group B with Shelley Mid - Persistence around the oppositi'on's net is paying off for the Clinton Mustangs, as they notched another victory last Friday night by dumping Kincardine 6-3. She was timed in 2:12.1 with trainer -driver Ron Williamson of Seaforth up for owner Ted Lamont of Waterloo. At London on -Friday night, Mike Meadow,, a three-year- old son of H.A. Meadowland - Dainty Debbie, owned by Ben and Jean Feagan of Goderich, had his first lifetime win in 2:13.3 with Terry Kerr on the bike. Mike is a brother to Dainty Meadow, p., 2:12 and 'a half- brother to Pebbies Girl p., 2:08.4, who is a winner of $17,940 lifetime. Flame Messenger, owned by Evelyn Rapson of dleton; juniors working on Holmesville, was fifth in the stroking badge with Brenda trot with Bill driving. Bill also Dupee and Debbie Jones; juniors on elementary badge with Caroline Woods; juniors working ,on basic and novice - one badges with Margaret Dupee. The overall hired professionals for this section .of the club are Miss Debbie Jeffreys of Goderich for the beginners and Mr. Guy Gordon of Stratford for the juniors. Already this season, hard work and perseverance are paying off. Some tests were passed on Saturday. In coach Shelley Mid- dleton's class, all members in attendance passed their beginners test. They are Tracylei Boyes, Steven Caldwell, Joanne Duddy, Bonita Hack and Michael Hallam. These skaters will stay with Shelley and begin work on the stroking badge.. In coach Caroline Wood's class, the following passed their elementary test; Christine Baker, Lori Jewitt, Sandra Potsma, Debbie Smith and Sue Ann Smith. These skaters will move to . Two horses Colts host Mitchell on Sunday The Clinton Colts play the Mitchell Red Devils' here in Clinton this coming Sunday night, December 2 at 8 p.m. in their third league game. Seaforth curling .news My apologies for not sub- mitting a newsletter last week, but the pressures of work, home and an -exam took over and sorri,ething had to give! We had a couple of teams curling cut of town this past weekend. Bob and Sharon Wilson. curled with Bill and Marg Fleming in Listowel. They won both of their ten - end games and picked up second prize for their draw. Curling in Exeter in a Men's Spiel were Bill Cam- pbell, John D, Patterson, Neil Dolmage and Gord Pryce. They won all three of their games and brought home first prize for the eleven o'clock draw. Last Tuesday, November 22, the ladies held a very succi sful Fun Day. Marg Makins and her team won first prize. Placing' second was Flo Smith and her team. Mrs. Miller catered to 'a delicious meal enjoyed "by all the ladies. Our Bonspiel `chaircouple', Bob and Sharon Wilson, have reported that the Bonspiel fliers have been sent out and the first bonspiel - a Farmer's Open, sponsored by Lorne Brown Motors, on Dec. 14 is filling up nicely. There 'are still some openings so put together a team, fellows, and join the fun. The ladies are to be heartily thanked for their willingness in signing up to help out with the catering. Almost everyone has already signed for working and baking. The junior girls are reminded that their help is greatly ap- preciated also. Your, co- operation has made' our catering chairman, Gloria's job so much easier. The New Year's Party plans are well under way. There are about ten tickets left. If you can join us, please let us know right away. We have to plan food, seating, etc., etc. for the number attending. It makes our job easier if we know well ahead how many are coming. Lancers tale Sailors The Lucknow Lancers got revenge on the Goderich Sailors Friday night when they (annihilated the Sailors 12-3 in Intermediate C action in Goderich. Goderich grabbed a 7-5 overtime win in Lucknow a week ago. The Lancers scored four times in each period and opened up a three goal lead before the Sailors managed to get on the board. Jim Murray and Dave McKinnon grabbed the first goal of the -game with five minutes expired and, at 10:37 Carl Stanley got help from Mark Chisholm and Greg Hamilton to boost the Lancers into a 2-0 lead. Paul Frayne set John Emberlin up 27 seconds later and Lucknow was well on its way to the win. Steve Buchanan picked up a loose puck at his own blue line and skated in alone on Jim Frayne beating the Lancer netminder 'to cut the Lucknow lead to two. That was as close as the Sailors got all night as Ian Montgomery added another Lancer goal before the end of the period to give his club a 4-1, lead after one period. The. Lancers continued to sakte through the Sailor defence and added another two goals before the Sailors got their second. Three minutes into the second period Montgomery got; his second and then at the seven minute mark he made it a hattrick. Kevin Meriam finished off a three way play with Dan Duncan and Dirk Wolterbeek to grab the Sailors' second goal but the 0 Lancers came back with two more to take an 8-2 lead to the dressing room. Mark Chisholm got his first of the night an -d Montgomery scored his fourth. Hamilton started off the Lucknow humiliation of the Sailors in the final period scoring the ninth Lancer goal four minutes into the third. Midway through the period' Montgomery grabbed his fifth of the night and Stanley scored his second and Stevenson his first before the Sailors finally answered back. With 1:53 left to go Jim Hayter and Wayne Kennedy grabbed the final Sailor goal to round out the scoring.
