to the damp, mild weather,
the steel beams have been
dripping moisture and the ice
has been unusable. Thursday
and Friday night curling had
to be cancelled as well as
Monday's men's games.
Hopefully this problem will
soon be solved and things will
get underway.
Those curling at the
Glendale Golf and Country
Club in Hamilton last
Saturday.were Bill Campbell,
John D. Patterson, Doug
Rowcliffe and Mike Thomas.
They won both of their games
and came home with second
prize.

Stangs get five more points
By Bryan Marriage
The Clinton Mustangs
picked up five more points
over the weekend with vic-
tories Tuesday night in
Hanover 9-4, last Friday night
at home over the Listowel
Cyclones 8-4, and gained a tie
Sunday afternoon in Port
Elgin 4-4.
Steve Cook, Paul Helesic
and Tim McLean each scored
twice in the victory over
Hanover Barons, Tuesday
night, while Neil Colquhoun,
Pete Thompson and Paul
Priestap added singles.
The Mustangs scored three
times in each period while
outshooting their opponents
39-38.
The much improved
Hanover Barons played an
aggressive style of game but
couldn't contain the Mustang
skaters. Jurgen Hellman
started in the nets for Clinton
but left the game after the
first period when a shot
deflected off his mask into the
net.
• Last Friday night in Clinton
the Mustangs started off
rather slowly when Listowel
jumped into an early 3-1 lead.
Clinton's first goal was fired
from the stick' of captain
Steve Cook.
During the last minute of
play in the opening period
Gary Peters brought Clinton
within one goal as he beat
Listowel goaltender Jeff
Nickel.
The second period,
however, was clearly' all
Clinton's, as the Stangs
notched five more goals. Tim
McLean had two, Steve Cook
fired his second, and Dave
Stephenson and Greg Butler
notched singles.
The third period saw each
team score once as Bill Smith
scored for Clinton and Kent
Norman replied for Listowel.
Final score Mustangs 8 and
Figure skating club news
Registrations are now
completed with a total of 120
children whose names have
been sent to the C.F.S.A.
office in Ottawa.
Groups have been evenly
arranged by secretary, Carol
Fox. We would discourage
parents from requesting that
their child be switched from
one group to another. This
would enlarge some groups
making it unfair for the
others in that group.
A test day will be held in
December and a child's name
who has changed groups may
get lost in the shuffle, thus
missing the testing. If a child
shows advanced ability the
professional will move this
child to a higher class.
Sisters', Sue Ann and
Debbie Smith ` passed the
stroking badge on Saturday.
Miss Sylvia Forbes
volunteered her services as
an amateur coach on
Saturday. Thanks Sylvia. Are
there any others, with
amateur coaches
who could help us

members, 15 of whom are the
qualified amateur coaches
the need for more help is
desired.
A long row of excellent buys
in new and used skating
dresses, skates, etc. was sold
at the club consignment sale
last Saturday. The executive
would like in the future to
catalogue any used skates for
sale so that the information
will be immediately available
when a request for a certain
size comes in. We'll let you
know as soon as this com-
mittee is organized.
Another money making
project has been launched
this week by the president
Barb Norman, this one being
recipe books. Soon every
family will be asked to submit
their favourite recipes and a
special Clinton Figure
Skating Cook Book will be
compiled. Watch for further
