They then took a bus to the stadium where they watched a ball game between the Minnesota Twins and California Angels. Cathy was disappointed as -the Angels won 6-2. On Saturday they attended another game at the Stadium which was delayed three hours because of rain and a terrible storm. Sunday Crystal flew home from Minneapolis. She said there was five to six inches of rain on the runways and her flight was delayed for quite some time. Cathy attended a double- header against the Twins and Oakland "A"s With "'the second game going into 13 inning3. On Monday Becky accompanied Cathy to St. Pauls where they met Mary and were on their way home by car, arriving .in Bayfield on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin had left on a ,,vacation in New Orleans and had sent each of 'the girls a lovely silk top as a gift. The girls' reported a really enjoyable time and said the people were especially nice; more open and more , friendly than Canadians and the kids have more fun. Becky said she had never seen pop cans the size of the ones here, she said most things, including horse gle Personals Mrs. Joan Shepherd .Wirfdspr is visiting for a few days with her brother-in-law and sister Dr. Grosvenor and Mrs. Shepherd. Mr and Mrs. Ed Roch and children (the family ° of Mrs. Joan Shepherd) visited Iast week with the Shepherd's enroute to spend some time at Sauble Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Watson Whiteside and three children Debbie, Mike and Jimmy, Neenah, Wisconsin spent the last two weeks, in July with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Cook. Picnic on the beach Zone 8 of Huron County Senior Citizens gathered together for a picnic at St. Christopher's Beach in Goderich last Sunday with an attendance of approximately 125 seniors. Zone 8 is comprised of 11 clubs from Brussels, to Grand Bend. • lin the absence of zone president, Mary Grigg of Clinton, the chair was ably filled by first vice, -Harry Baker. Rose Harris, Hensall was secretary, Mr. Martini of -Dashwood.. was treasurer and registered the guests. Each club president was asked to make a few remarks on the working of their clubs. Mrs: Zurback of Stratford, who is on the executive for the Ontario Seniors, gave a very impressive report. Gifts were given to the eldest male present namely • Mr. Norman Ball of Clinton. The eldest female prize went to Mrs. Edith Logan of Blyth. The couple married the longest were Mr. and Mrs. $ill Snyder of Goderich. The new building, situated directly north of the Post Office is carpeted throughout, contains washroom facilities, excellent lighting and elec- trical • heat and plenty of space to display the books. The building is :bright and cheeryand more pleasant surroundings for Librarian Maude Weston and summer assistant Jeanne Lindsay. Th,e Library was erected at a cost, of More ,than $38,000 ane was funded solely by donations and grants. The property was donated by Miss Jessie Metcalf. The land- scaping and flower beds are still to be completed and donations would be gratefully accepted by Librarian Maude Weston or Village Clerk, Gordon Graham to defray the cost of completing the new library. - The official opening is to take place at a later date. To mark the opening the residents of the Senior Citizens Apartments sent a beautiful floral arrangement and a table arrangement was received from Luanne and Lydia Erickson.. Attached, to the new library is the old building moved from its former site across the street, (renovated and remodelled and, is •to house the Archives of the Archives of the Historical Society. It is certainly a facility to be proud of and the first new library 'for the village. Another first for the Village of Rayfield arrived Tuesday evening arould 6 p.m. in the form of a big bright yellow fir'e truck. At an approximate cost of $52,000 it shpuld provide ample coverage for •the village and area it serves. The physical assets of the Bayfield Volunteer Fire Department which have been serving the area for nearly 30 years has been turned over to • the Village of Bayfield; The old dire truck -has been retained . as a back-up unit and . for parades.
