disappointed as -the Angels
won 6-2. On Saturday they
attended another game at the
Stadium which was delayed
three hours because of rain
and a terrible storm. Sunday
Crystal flew home from
Minneapolis. She said there
was five to six inches of rain
on the runways and her flight
was delayed for quite some
time.

Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin had
left on a ,,vacation in New
Orleans and had sent each of

gift. The girls' reported a
really enjoyable time and
said the people were
especially nice; more open

Canadians and the kids have
more fun. Becky said she had

of the ones here, she said

been in Canada for the past
month staying in Mildmay
and Dana's sister Debbie has

out in St. Marys.

Zone 8 of Huron County
Senior Citizens gathered
together for a picnic at St.
Christopher's Beach in
Goderich last Sunday with an
attendance of approximately
125 seniors.
Zone 8 is comprised of 11
clubs from Brussels, to Grand
Bend.

president, Mary Grigg of
Clinton, the chair was ably
filled by first vice, -Harry
Baker. Rose Harris, Hensall
was secretary, Mr. Martini of
-Dashwood.. was treasurer and
registered the guests.
Each club president was
asked to make a few remarks
on the working of their clubs.
Mrs: Zurback of Stratford,
who is on the executive for the
Ontario Seniors, gave a very
impressive report.
Gifts were given to the
eldest male present namely •
Mr. Norman Ball of Clinton.
The eldest female prize went
to Mrs. Edith Logan of Blyth.
The couple married the
longest were Mr. and Mrs.

Villagers tour new library
The new Bayfield Branch of
the Huron County Library
opened on Saturday with
more than 250 books being
loaned out from 1 p.m. to 5
p.m. Villagers toured the new
facility and remarked on the
welcome change.
The new building, situated
directly north of the Post
Office is carpeted throughout,
contains washroom facilities,
excellent lighting and elec-
trical • heat and plenty of
space to display the books.
The building is :bright and
cheeryand more pleasant
surroundings for Librarian
Maude Weston and summer
assistant Jeanne Lindsay.
Th,e Library was erected at
a cost, of More ,than $38,000
ane was funded solely by
donations and grants. The
property was donated by Miss
Jessie Metcalf. The land-
scaping and flower beds are
still to be completed and
donations would be gratefully
accepted by Librarian Maude
Weston or Village Clerk,
Gordon Graham to defray the
cost of completing the new
library. -
The official opening is to
take place at a later date. To
mark the opening the
residents of the Senior
Citizens Apartments sent a
beautiful floral arrangement
and a table arrangement was
received from Luanne and
Lydia Erickson..
Attached, to the new library
is the old building moved
from its former site across
the street, (renovated and
remodelled and, is •to house
the Archives of the Archives
of the Historical Society. It
too is carpeted the same as
the library and is bright and
cheery, Members of the

donuts to those borrowing
books` or touring the new
buildings. It is certainly a
facility to be proud of and the
first new library 'for the
village.
Another first for the Village
of Rayfield arrived Tuesday
evening arould 6 p.m. in the
form of a big bright yellow
fir'e truck. At an approximate
cost of $52,000 it shpuld
provide ample coverage for
•the village and area it serves.
The physical assets of the
Bayfield Volunteer Fire
Department which have been
serving the area for nearly 30
years has been turned over to •
the Village of Bayfield; The
old dire truck -has been
retained . as a back-up unit
and . for parades. Town of-
ficials, and'firemen were on
hand to view ail,d accept the
new King -Seagrave unit from
Mr. Howard MacKay of
Woodstock.
