Alice Lawson reported that get well cards were sent to Jean Johns and Pearl Cummings. Flowers were seat to Ruth Shaddick, Jean Johns. and Bernice Cobean in the Clinton Public Hospital. Thank -you cards were received by Rose McAdam, Jean Johns and Ruth Shad - dick.• An invitation was received from the Ever Young Club in Bayfield to visit with them in the town hall in Bayfield on June 7 at 8p.m. Gladys Hoggarth acted as M.c. for the program. Lorna Radford gave two piano solos and Ida Livingstone read the "Cattle Thief" by Pauline Johnson. A few games of cards were also 'played, and the door draws were won by Leona Lockhart and George Rumball. The next meeting is June 1 at 7:30 pm. A delicious lunch was served by the group in charge, Clarence and Jay Ball, Viola Lampman and Gladys Hoggarth. Orange wally planned for Bayfield At the regular meeting on Wednesday, May 18, the South Huron County Orange Lodge decided to hold the traditional walk in Bayfield on Saturday July 16. At the meeting held in the Bayfield Orange Hall, County Master Ivan McClymont informed the members of the planned celebration in Goderich of the 150th an- niversary of the founding of the town, and their parade, to be held on July 9th. Lions club of Clinton to promote .federation • The Lions Club of Clinton was addressed by Past - President Lion Antoine "Red" Garon on Tuesday, May 24 on the subject of "Separatism." Lion "Red" expressed concern and reiterated the importance of Quebec remaining in Confederation. The Lions Club of Clinton will present a motion at the Multiple District A9 . Con- vention, May 27-30, 1977 in London Ontario, expressing the desire of Lions Inter- national , to promote Con- federation and encourage the people of the Province of Quebec to appreciate the - Lions concern that the Province of Quebec remain in Confederation. Due to this, and to Orange Walks being held in other towns in Ontario on that date, it was decided to hold the Bayfield walk one weels later. Chairman of the parade committee, Alex Hamilton of Grand Bend, stated that the walk would leave Clan Gregor Square at ap- proximately 2:00 pm and proceed past the senior citizens home,.and come back up the main street to the square. The speaker's platform will, be set up in the Square, and the speaking will precede the waik, with the remainder Of the programme taking place afterwards. A ball game, to be played in the fairgrounds after the parade is being arranged by County Secretary Doug McAsh of Varna. Robt. Webster, the dance com- mittee chairman, announced that arrangements had been made with the Bayfield Lions Club to hold the dance in the Bayfield Arena in the evening. The Lions are also attempting to arrange for some rides to be set up in the fairgrounds for the children. The County Master reported on proceedings at Provincial Lodge meetings held in St. Catharines. Plans were made for the Annual County Church Service, to be held in Varna United Church on Sunday, June 26, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Alex Taylor pastor of the church and a former chaplain of the Orange Lodge of Scotland, will be in charge. Pies were just one of the many delicious dishes which were served at the Londesboro Ham Supper on May 18. The supper was sponsored by the UCW and the proceeds from the meal went to the church. (News -Record photo) Wilbee-Patterson Ontario Street Church in Clinton was the setting for the May 14 wedding of Allan William Wilbee, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wilbee of Seaforth and Debra Anna Patterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Patterson of Clinton. Rev. Lawrence Lewis conducted the ceremony and Eugene Bradley was the organist. while Richard Keelan was the soloist. The bride, given away by her father, was gowned in a chiffon, empire waisted dress with hand embroidered French lace on the bodice and cuffs. The gown was com- plemented with a three -tiered large chiffon hat with back flower trim. She carried a colonial . cascade of mauve miniature mums, with white daisies and blue stephanotis. Matron of honor, Peggy Reid along with bridesmaids, Kathie Patterson of Kit- chener, Pattie Smith of Goderich and Joan Wilbee of Woodstock were all dressed in gowns of sapphire blue silk. The ' dresses were grecian -photo by Phillips style with split over capes. They carried clusters of white and yellow daisies and mauve mums. Groomsman was Ron Hildebrand of Seaforth and ushers were Nathan Smith of Goderich and Ken Doiran of Kitchener. For a reception at the Pineridge Chalet in Hensall, the bride's mother greeted her guests in a dress of buttercup caressa jersey, with princess lines and matching coat with braid trim. The groom's mother chose a blue silk knit dress with chiffon sleeves. For a wedding trip, the bride was outfitted in a three piece white pantsuit with a red vest and navy ac- cessories. The couple will reside in Kirkton. Guests from a distance arrived at the wedding from Markdale, -Owen Sound, Toronto, Elliot Lake, Michigan, Flesherton, Rocklyn, Sarnia, Woodstock, Elmira and London. Pro Life Group meets The Goderich and District Pro Life Group held their meeting at the former St. Elizabeth School on Tuesday, May 17. It was decided to send letters from the group to each of the local candidates in the forthcoming Provincial elections. He or she will be asked if they favor stricter interpretation of the present abortion law to protect un- born children. An opinion from the can- didates is also requested concerning the an- nouncement by Marc Lalonde, federal minister of Health, that he wishes the Provinces to set up Women's Clinics' where abortions would be made available. This vtfould certainly lead to an increase in the number of abortions performed, the local group feels. Connie Osborn, education chairman, had recently presented a film and program to the C.W.L. at St. Peter's Church, Goderich. Adrian' was greeted on his arrival by the deputy mayor of Ottawa, Marion Dewar and Pro Life members. • During his walk Adrian had only one slightly unpleasant incident. He is convinced that the majority of people are opposed to the liberalization of the abortion law. Adrian was interviewed on T.V. and on radio in Ottawa and by CKNX since returning home. Adrian constantly reminds people that he is not just anti -abortion, he is Pro Life. This takes in the dignity of all human life - the pre - born, the aged, youth, the handicapped, and mentally retarded. Money raised by the walk will be divided between the Pro Life and Mentally Retarded organizations. Between 4,000 to 5,000 Pro Life supporters took part in the rally on Parliament Hill on May 6. There were 75 to 100 demonstrators for "Abortion by Choice". Arie Van Den Berg of- ficiated the ceremony and the bride was given away by her grandfather, Guy Ives. Marilyn Kuipery a sister-in- law provided the music for the wedding. The bride wore a white jersey dress with a beaded bodice and cuffs. Her dress also featured an empire waistline and the dress was studded with pearls. She carried a cascading bouquet of stephanotis, yellow roses, white daisies and wore a half ' crown headpiece with a flowing veil in brocade, studded with pearls. Her maid of honor, Coby Amsing of Guelph and bridesmaids, Jo Anne Stephenson of Kitchener and Mrs_ Helen Keys, sister of the bride from Varna, wore light green dresses of polyester jersey with flounced sleeves and a V-neck. They wore three daisies in their hair. Dick Kuipery of Lindsay was groomsman and ushers were Leo Kuipery of Lindsay and Archie Puiker of Guelph. For a reception following -photo by Phillips the ceremony, the Vanastra Shillelagh entertained the guests. The bride chose a green pant suit and yellow corsage for her travelling outfit.
