(News -Record photo) Clinton- court news Manuel Martino, 22, of 66 Lutsch Avenue, Leamington pleaded guilty to charges of unlawfully entering Canada, in Clinton Court on May 4. Martino, a native of Por- tugal entered Canada in December 1973 on a three month visit and was deported for staying longer. In February 1977 he obtained a new passport and returned to Canada. On his second trip he married Carolyn Young of 120 Jarvis St., Seaforth and the. couple now reside in Leamington. Although Martino surrendered in March 1977 to the RCMP in Hur9n County, no deportation hearing has been scheduled. However on September 16, Martino's wife will be 18:- years-old 8=years-old and she can legally. apply for landed immigrant status for her husband. At the present time, both are working in the Windsor area and it was felt that a fine punishment instead of a jail sentence would suffice. Judge G. Hays gave Martino a $300 fine with one month to pay. Randolph Patrick Pear, 17, of 10 Orange Street, Clinton pleaded guilty to three charges of auto theft from area car lots. Duty Council, Paul Ross suggested to the court that Pear,'s behaviour may be a result of boredom and emotional problems. It was decided that Pear's sentence should be suspended with probation for two years. Two other similar charges' for Pear of taking a motor vehicle without consent are scheduled to be tried at a later date. In both incidents Pear had a partner and took two vehicles from Green and Parent of Goderich. Pear and his partner will compensate the dealers for damages of $550 to one vehicle and $300 in damages to a 1975 half -ton pick-up. Raymond Bender, proprietor of Raymond C. Bender Masonry and Con- struction of Vanastra was found guilty to charges under the income tax act of failing to remit monies deducted from salaries of employees for the month of July 1976. Mrs. Viola Bender, representing her husband, also pleaded guilty to similar charges which occurred on September 16, 1976 when $876,13 was not remitted. Judge Hays decided that Bender would be fined $400 to be paid in 15 days. or 40 days in jail. The other money was paid back recently. Frank A.
