A Quarter -Century Of Service
The Clinton Kinsmen Club has completed 25 years of
service to Clinton and district, and the members, former
members, and friends will mark the occasion with a
celebration at the Vanastra Shillelagh this coming Saturday
evening May 14.
Following a reception at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 7
p.m. and a program of speeches and entertainment will
take place.
Then the evening will be topped off with a dance to the
"Nitelights" orchestra.
Among the more than 200 people expected to attend the
affair will be representatives of the Charter Member group,
most living past presidents, and representatives of Kin-
smen Clubs in the district.
Feature guest speaker at the anniversary night will be
Mait Edgar of Petrolia, a former member and a past
president of the club.
Mait is also the only life member of the Clinton Club, and
when he lived in Clinton, he served both as a deputy
governor, and a governor in the district and zone for the
Kinsmen. !r
Commenting on the Clinton Kinsmen's 25 years of service
to the community, president Paul Kerrigan expressed the
sincere thanks and appreciation of the members of the club
to those who have loyally supported the club's efforts over
the years.
The gathering will pay tribute Saturday evening to a
number of Charter members and past presidents, including
Frank Cook, who has been an active Kinsmen for 25 years,
since the very ,formation of the club, and is still involved
with the club.

Clinton Kinsmen Club Has Carried Out Its Original Objectives
"Meeting our community's greatest need" has always
been the creed set down and followed all over Canada, and
over the past 25 years, the Kinsmen Club of Clinton have
tried to .follow that creed, making service to the Clinton and
area community their foremost thought.
Over the years, the hundreds of members, that have gone
through the Clinton Kinsmen Club have donated literally
thousands of hours towards community projects, whether it
was helping a needy family at Christmas, raising money
from the minor sports system, moiling senior citizens into
new quarters, or raising money to aid research into. that
deadly childhood disease, Cystic Fibrosis.
Right from the very first year of their Charter in 1952, the
Clinton Kinsmen lived up to their creed, and one of their
first deeds was to donate a fracture frame to the Clinton
Public Hospital.
Ironically, nearly 25 years later, the club was helping the
Hospital again, this time by donating their time and monies
to help save the hospital from closure in 1976.
In between, the Clinton Kinsmen have participated in

literally hundreds of other community projects, and along
the way enjoyed the fun and companionship of the Kinsmen
Club too.
This year, 1977, the Kinsmen are just as active as always,
determined to keep the Clinton Raceway open in spite of a
serious set -back when the government condemned the
grandstand at the Clinton Community Park, and thus
closing down one of the Club's main money making
projects, and a major summer employer in the town.
The Clinton Kinsmen agreed last month to bear the
complete responsibility of financing and constructing a new
grandstand at a cost of $250,000, and as they sit down to their
25th anniversary supper, the grandstand is well on its way
to completion before the Spring Fair which starts on June 3,
and the harness races; which start on June 26.
There have been many service projects in the last 25
years, and the Kinsmen hope to serve the district another 25
years and play just_,as important a role to those in the
community who need the help the most.
