The four- year-old pacing son of Sir Dudley Pick -Brenda Herbert is owned by Dennis Jewitt of Clinton. Reggie Ford was third with driver Jack • Meriam for Charles Brindley of Goderich, while Bill German finished fifth with Janet Express. Shigle Johnnie was second at Buffalo. Raceway on April 19. At London on May 4, Prima Daisy wa§ second for Roy Baynham of Kippen and J. Bettke of Elmira in the second race. Bill Caldwell of Clinton was fourth with his Lucky Lobo in the fourth race. Swinging Beauty, owned by Wm. Laverty of Seaforth, was a winner in 2:11.1 of the fifth race with Ron Williamson on the bike. Randy McLean was fourth with Tide Delight for Donald Campbell of Goderich in the same race. 11 Friday night at London, Bill Caldwell was third with Leahaven Red in the second race. Dennis Jewitt had a fourth place finish with Bold Tar Heel for owner Franc Stroop of Fordwich in the fifth. Dianne Camp, a six-year- old mare -by Camp Hanover - Dianne Grattan H.,, was a winner in 2:08 at Flamboro with Ron Williamson on May 6. Last year she took a record of 2:07.3 with seven wins, two 4 seconds and six thirds from 19 starts for her owner - trainer Ken Holmes of Seaforth. Her brother Lee Camp, who is one year older, also had a successful year in 1976. He startvd 41 times, was first 12 times, hLtd six seconds and eight third place finishes for his Orangeville and Bram- pton owners. Lee Camp was formerly owned and raced by Bruce Dupe: of Clinton, while his wife Irene had Dianne Camp. Friday night at Greenwood in Toronto, Tar Daw Duke; owned by Larry Daw of Clinton and Claude Daw of Mississauga, was fourth for driver Dennis Jewitt of Clinton in a speedy 2:02.4 mile. Crash Landing had his fourth win of the year in 2:05 with Ron Feagan on the bike. The six-year-old horse by H. A. Meadowland - Miss Judy Bars has also had two -seconds and one third with earnings of $12,513 already this year for his owner George- Feagan of Goderich. Miss Judy Bars has also got to the races: Reggie Ford p, 2:10.4: Kendra Sea p, 2:07.3; Parker Bars p, 2:05 with over $22,000; Douglas Bars p, 2:02.4, winner of over $37,000. Crash Landing took 'a record of 2:01.2 last year and has earnings over $36,000 to date. At° London on Saturday night, Taros, owned by Fran4 Johnston of Goderich had to settle for third after having a winning streak of four in a row. Over 15 volunteers arrived at the horse barns last Saturday morning to apply sealer to the planks. The seats are now ready for painting. Crimson Josie, an eight-year- old mare by Josie's Victory - Lura Hoot, had her first -win as a trotter in 2:12.2 with owner -trainer -driver Bruce Volland of Goderich. Movin' N' Groovin-, a four- year-old pacer by Adora's Dream, was second in the sixth race for owner Wayne and Georgina Dupee of Clinton with Wayne driving. Ackwin, owned by Gord Rapson of Holmesville, was fourth in the seventh race with his son Bill on the bike. Verdun Vanstone of Ben - miller was fifth with Ben - miller Buddi for his wife, Lois in the same race. The eighth race was ac- tually won by Cadi Hutch but on her way to the wire she interfered with Carolina Cotton who in turn bumped Tony Bay. The latter was driven by Bud Fritz for Clinton owners Frank Cook, G. R. McEwan and Lorne Brown. Cadi Hutch was placed sixth for interference, behind Tony Bay who was mooed up ' to fifth. Goldie's Hit, driven by Frank MacDonald was placed fourth for owner Terry ' Rutledge of Clinton. Hazy Dares was moved up from second to become the winner with driver Dennis Jewitt for Velma Baird of Crediton. Cathy's Hat, owned .by Brad Vanstone, was fourth in the $600 feature race with Verdun driving. - Monday night at London, Hickory Lassie was fifth with driver Dennis Jewitt for owners Frank Cook of Clinton. Jason Direct was fourth with Randy McLean on the bike. He also drove Scat Man to a fourth place finish. G. G. Greentree, owned by C. W. (Jiggs) LeBeau of Brucefield and Barry Miller of Kirkton was fourth with driver Norm Campbell. Evelyn Rapson reports the arrival of 'her new filly from Sassy Dee on May 9 at 8:45 p.m. She is by Allwood's Pride a son of Star's Pride, owned by Frank Little of Goderich. Jew Dean 'Ryan received the best defensive player award from Bob Livermore at the Clinton Junior C hockey banquet. The banquet was hdld on May 7 and saw 95 people in attendance. (News -Record photo) Vanastra gun club results Mery Batkin of Clinton and George Hamm of Blyth shot perfect scores of 25 in the Vanastra Trap Shoot held on May 3. Shooting 24 were several men: Greg Potter, Goderich ; John Anderson, Kippen; Bill Stewart, Goderich; Tom Allen, Londesboro and George Giles, London. Lloyd Venner of Hensall, Len Lobb of Clinton and Bill Thompson of Clinton all shot 23 birds. Jeff Darling of Exeter hit 22, Jack Mills of Guelph shot 21 and Frank Flynn of Clinton, John Hessel of Goderich, Murray East of Clinton and Jim Butcher of Clinton all shot 20 birds. Paul Stanley of Clinton followed with ;R points, Eugene Clark of Exeter hit 17, Ashley Gilbert of Goderich shot 15 and Janet Porter of Goderich came in last with a score of 14. Murray East shot 24 lairds at the Vanastra Skeet Shoot on May 7. He was closely ollowed by Glen Mogk of Bornholm, Harrison Schock of Zurich, Tom Allen and John Anderson, who all scored 23. Mery Batkin, John Hessel, Bill Stewart and Len Lobb hit 22 birds while Bill Boussey of Kitchener, .Keith Allen of Londesboro and Kel Christie of Kirkton hit 19 birds. Ashley Gilbert shot 18 birds and Jim East of Clinton hit l3. olts open next week The Huron -Perth Inter- mediate Basebali league will open its 1977 season on May 15 and the Clinton ``Colts will be playing their first game in Dashwood on May 20. The Colts, along with the Dashwood Tigers,,, ,_,.the Crediton Mets, augmented by several players trorn the now defunct. Zurich team and the recently accepted Thorndale team, will be seeing a lot of action this summer as they will meet with four London junior teams and junior teams from Sarnia and Strathroy. The interlocking schedule will allow both leagues to play more games since the Huron - Perth club will not be in- volved in the WOAA this year. The Clinton Colts have not signed any players yet, but according to manager Larry Reinhart the team lineup will be much the same as last year with a few additions. Bob Livermore will be the 'coach for the Colts and the team's schedule is now in the process of being prepared. DON'T BURN CANADA'S FORESTS! Save electricity, save money. They were followed by Boussey's Baboons who rolled 1,356 and the Pack Rats with 1,306. In fifth place the Lions had a pinfall of 1,263 and in sixth , the Bears with 1,199. Corries Coyotes followed with 1,166 and the Tiger Cats scored F,140. YBC Friday Night . The Fabulous Five are in first place in the playoffs with a pinfall of 1,595. Irb second are the Headpins with 1,454, the Three Strikers are in third with 1,421 and the 45Q's scored 1,381 to come in fourth. Cornishes Cool Cats had a pinfall of 1,375 And the Bay City Bowlers followed closely behind' with a score of 1,379. Bringing up the tail are the Strikes and Spares with 1,322 and the .Super Strikers with 1,315. YBC Majors In the second week of playoffs, the -Bad News Bears hold a pinfall of 5,977 with the Rough Riders in second, With a score of 5,855. The Winners are in third with a pirlfall of 5,603 and the Rams in last with a score of 5,510. In the individual standings, Nancy Kuehl swept the ladies' division by taking the high single with 201 points,,.' the high triple with 561 and thlc high average with'i 189 points. Bob Riehl took the high :int'le with 2R0 points in the men's division. The high triple went to Pete Wise with 681 points and Bob Atkinson held the high average with 213 points. Spring League The Do or Dies, the Untouchables and the Forget- Me-Nots are all locked in an 11 point tie. The Downs and Ups followed closely -.with 10 points, the Bruce Bowlers with 9 and the Corner Pins hold 8 points. . Darlene Weir captured the ladies' division with a high single of 321, a high triple of 730 points and a high average of 232. In the men's division, Gary Armstrong had 281 points for the high single and Brad Atkinson took the high triple with 700 points and the high average with 219 points. Motorcross sees a roaring opener The first event in the CZ Jawa Motocross Series at Hully Gully last Sunday was a tremendous sporting. event, resulting in a three way tie for the lead for the RV 250 Motocrosser. Barry Bezzo from Simcoe on a ('7 9,-,n plass, Dan McPherson from Whitby won the 125 class on a Yamaha and Wayne Ryerson also from Simcoe won the Open class on a 370 Suzuki. All three riders are tied with ten points.a piece. In the School Boy Division Tom Bowman and Rob Hodgson share the leacl.,with 10 points each as well.' Both riders hail from Cambridge and both were riding Suzukis. Next event in the CZ Jawa Motocross Series is two weeks from today May 22, at Hully Gully.
