CHSS kickers show promise
The senior' Redmen soccer
team started off their season
last Tuesday with a scoreless
tie against St. Mary's.
The Redmen played a
rather weak first half, not
being able to finish any plays.
Our team had the strong wind
advantage, but failed to
capitalize on it.
Things looked bad going
into the second half because
we were against the wind.
However, our defense
prevented St. Mary's from
having any good chances to
win the game. Dave Counter
was steady when needed, in
recording his second shutout
in as many games.
The Redmen team was
suffering because it was the
first game of the season.
Many things were learned
and these new lessons will be
applied Wednesday
Lyes .erday, in Exeter. The
first home game is on
Tuesday May 10 against
Wingham. Come out and
support this strong Redmen
team.
Last Wednesday, the
Redmen played their first
and only exhibition game
against Goderich. Paul
Galachuik scored once, and
Richard Verberne scored
once to lead the Redmen to a
3-0 victory.
Your weekly `horrorscope'
By Sally Soothsayer
Aries - Resist the urge to,
play a trick on someone close
to you. Although practical
jokes are only jokes, that
"someone" is in no mood for
it! Tease your pet canary
instead.
Taurus - Now is the time for
others to see thosot leadership
qualities in you. Stand up and
let that dominant personality
of yours shine. (This applies
only to Taurus' who are over
5'2") .
, Gemini - This week will be a
tranquil one for you. Why not
settle down with a good book -
John Milton? Chaucer ?
Maybe you 'should just settle
for being tranquil - not put to
sleep? P.S. Watch out for
"arch -enemies
Cancer - Travel is in the
picture for you. See new
places, and new things.
Explore on your own -
Exeter? Seaforth?
Hillsgreen? Don't bother to
consult a travel guide.
Leo - Are you lovesick and
"lonesome"? Well too bad, I
can't help you with that one.
Try an analyst or a computer
dating service - or how about
both? In your near future,
Barb Carter
CHSS gymnastic girl
is fest in province
On Saturday, April 30th,
Barb Carter competed with
the other members of the
WOSSA gymnastics team in
the OFSAA gymnastics
championship held at the
University of Waterloo.
Barb tied for -9th place in
the junior vaulting event with
her teammate Lori Tennent
of London, from amongst a
look for neW developments - a
new acquaintance or job
perhaps.
Virgo - Financial matters
dominate the scene this week.
Listen to others who advise
saving and budgeting. Then
after you have listened to
them, go out on a shopping
spree!
Libra - Cheer up; things
can't be that bad! Can they?
Keep that smile on your face,
because you're going to need
it. What a, week ! If I were
you, I would hide in my room
until it's all over. And THAT's
just the good news!
Scorpio - This could be a
very productive week for you.
Try to finish whatever
projects you start and above
all, never mind all .of those
people trying to tell you what
to do. Listen to your own
conscience and . good luck
(you'll need it).
Sagittarius - Try the
domestic side of life for a
change. How about sewing or
baking - even if it's your first
try? If the latter is your
choice, I , have a very good
recipe to recommend, for a
ptomaine poisoning antidote.
Capricorn - If others try to
order you around this week,
don't 'worry. If you remain
silent and keepyour cool,
everything will work out. If
not, start swinging!
Aquarius - Beware of that
evil old green monster - none
other than jealousy! Give
your boyfriend -girlfriend or
husband -wife the benefit of
the doubt. THEN, 'start to
investigate the little sneak.
Pisces - You may be suf-
fering from the ill-effects of
too much celebration and
carousing. As a result, in the
very near future, I see for you
- more celebration and more
carousing! Keep the faith,
sweetie!
By for now - Sally.

Hesslewood, placed seventh;
our girls singles player,

Track and Field
On Wednesday, April 20,
CHSS held a track meet.
Under the able direction of
D. Ludwig the CHSS track
team did very well, placing
second. Congratulations
would be too numerous' if
winners were mentioned
individually so we will merely
congratulate the team.
The following Wednesday,
the CHSS field team tied for
first place with Goderich.
Congratulations to all par-
ticipants and winners.
Just ask
Annie!
Dear Annie:
Some people would like to
walk to the cafeteria without
being chorused as by burping
babies and whistling bird-
brains.
Their peculiar mouth -
movements resemble those of
a primitive man and leave
much to be desired (not to
mention frothing at the 'Mouth
and panting). If they want to
watch some scenery, they
should go, watch an X-rated
movie.
The ignorant people who
are lined upon each side of the
hallway look like rejects out
of a Frankenstein movie. Half
of them look as if they
escaped from the dog pounds.
What can we do about these
homely and immature mutts?
Is that Asking Too Much?
Dear Asking:
If I had the answer to that
question, I could be making a
lot more money than .I am
now, as a politician.
The problem is particularly
acute, as you say, in the halls
near the cafeteria, where the
local low-lifes are right at
home, evidently.
The only solution is to at-
tempt to avoid • the area as
much as possible, so that they
may get bored and vent their
frustrations elsewhere.
Annie.
