The opening ritual was repeated, followed by the roll call and the minutes. On Tuesday, May 3rd, the Ritual of Jewell chapter and the Exemplar chapter will join together in celebrating Founder's Day. A decision was made to donate $100 to Huronview. The hooked rug that they have been working on this year is near completion, so get your tickets. The draw will be made on May 2•4th. Harry Oakes Harry Richard Henry Oakes of Clinton died after a lengthy illness at Clinton Public Hospital on Friday, April 29. He was in his 56th year. He was born to George Herbert Oakes and Lily Lela Ball Elizabeth Carter of Goderich Township on October 29, 1921. Lela 'J. The Clinton Christian Reformed Choir provided special musical numbers for the Sunday . evening Song Service. The service was led by Mr. Dick Roorda. Mr. Al DeHaun directed and ac- companied the thirty-five voice choir. The residents look forward. to this yearly visit by the choir and enjoyed it very much. Marie Flynn and Norman Speir entertained on Monday afternoon with Old Time Music for the dancing and led the sing -a -long of favourite songs. • The Christian The University of Windsor school of music presented the Chamber hour for the Family night program. The twenty - voice choir along with the Conductor, Richard Householder, are touring Western Ontario this week and we appreciate that Huronview was incluaea in their itinerary. The next meeting of the BWA will be held on May 19 at 8 p.m. all ladies are welcome. c Huron -Perth Presbytery hears -Catholic priest Members of the Huron - Perth Presbytery of the United Church brought their own lunches 1`o a meeting at Monkton United Church on Tuesday April 26. Presbytery funds, -which would have paid for a hot meal, were given to the World Development and Relief Fund. The Presbytery heard Rey. Moses L'upupa; a Roman Catholic priest from Swaziland, describe his work in a parish about the size of the whole Presbytery. Local elde •s assist him. He i8 studying at The Divine Word Centre in London for one year. He described some sad conditions and told of the death of a child when a white doctor refused to treat him because he had :r Roman Catholic medal around his neck. He stated that his people are .trying to find a non-violent solution to the apartheid problems and requested prayers. Rev, Joseph Driskill, newly appointed United Church Chaplain to the University of Western Ontario, also spoke to the court. He outlined the work done by the seven chaplain.s. 'Their headquarters rare in the central University Com- munity Centre. Activities for the 25,000 people include' worship, counselling, working to develop com- munity feeling and "Mothers Morning Out" - for wives of students (nearby UCW members babysit while they meet). Mr. Driskill -asked members of Presbytery to let him know of their students. They will receive a letter outlining possibilities and inviting them tadrop in. In the business sessions it was decided: that Rev. C;.cil. Wittick and Harrold Knisley be Commissioners to General Council in Calgary in August. Rev. Eric LeDrew, Rev. Don Deas and Mrs. Cora Thistle are alternates; • that, "we commend the., government for not allowing beer at B1ueJay ball games"; e that new washrooms would be constructed at Camp Bimini; • that the "Specials" format for Singtime be supported for another year; • that the Presbytery would meet at Conference at Sarnia between May 17 - 19. The incon,ing chairman is Rev. John Oestreicher from Wesley -Willis United Church, Clinton. Rev. Eric LeDrew continues as secretary. Omega to help at clinic The Baptist Women's Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on April 21 at the church. • The meeting was opened with a word of welcome from Hazel Clifford, the president of the group. This was followed by devotions based on an old familiar hymn "Trust and Obey" which was sung by the ladies. The ladies then all joined in prayer.
