The Huron Tract, a
quarterly publication of the
Ontario Ministry, of Natural
Resources at Wingham, often
contains some very in-
teresting and pertinent in-
formation for residents of our
area. Following,:are a couple
of excerpts:
Lucknow River Fishway:
As a result of severe flooding
paused by an early season
thaw in November, con-
struction at Port Albert for
the Lucknow River Fishway
was terminated for the
winter. Consequently, the
fishway will not be in
operation this spring as
previously planned, but
should be fully operational by
fall.
The Maitland River Bird
Observatory: The Maitland
River Bird Observatory has
been set up on five acres of
cedar and hemlock bush that
is situated on the bank of the
Maitland River 5 miles west
of Wingham. As well as cedar
and hemlock the tree cover is
beech, blue beech, hard
maple, soft maple, mountain
maple, American elm,
basswood, willow, yellow
birch, ash,ironwood and black
cherry. The ten most com-
monly banded species of
birds during 1976 were
Swainson's Thrushes, Bay -
breasted Warblers, Song
Sparrows, Cedar Waxwings,
Baltimore Orioles, Tennessee
Warblers, Rose -breasted
Grosbeaks, American

appreciation for the hard
work done by Mr. Hayter in
his term of office and. an-
nounced he is to be the first
recipient of a past president's
plaque from the association
in appreciation for his years
of service.
The Conservatives in the
riding have not spoken up
enough in the past, remarked
Mr. Amos. Everyone must
speak up about the concerns
facing this riding, he said,
adding people involvement is
the name of the game.
Mr. Amos encouraged
everyone of the people
present to go out and recruit
five people to become active
in the campaign coming up.
"The first priority of the
new executive, says Mr.
Amos, "will be a nomination
meeting to be held in the not
too distant future."

In an evening ceremony at
St. , Columban Roman
Catholic Church on April 15,
Wendy Lynn Hesselwood and
Brian John Murray were
united in marriage. The
double ring ceremony was
officiated by Father Jack
Stapleton.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr.-- ' and Mrs. Reg
Hesselwood of Blyth, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Murray of
Walton. ,
Given away by her mother
and father, the bride chose an
empire -waisted gown, with
attached train of polyester
and organza and richly ap-
pliqued with lace daisies. The
gown featured a scoop
neckline, and long sheer
sleeves. A long veil with
matching lace headpiece
completed the bride's lovely
attire. She carried a cascade
of pink roses and white
daisies with pink v,arigated
miniature carnations.
Maid of honor, was Debbie
Pickard, Clinton who wore a
mint green, polyester gown
with a scooped neckline. Her
outfit was completed by a
matching hat. She carried a
nosegay of pink varigated
miniature carnations, with
white daisies, yellow pom-
poms and trailing streamers.

that was decorated with white
pews ties, candelabra on each
side of the altar and two
baskets of flowers on the
altar.
The bride's mother greeted
her guests at the reception
held in the Clinton Legion
Hall. She was dressed in a
yellow gown of polyester. It
featured an empire -waist and
high neckline and brightly
patterned cape. The en-
semble was completed with
tan accessories and a corsage
of yellow roses.

an empire -waisted gown with
high neckline in blue and
white. She wore gold ac-

Horticultural Society plans
May plant, slip auction
The April Clinton Hor-
ticultural Society meeting
was well attended and the
dessert and coffee served
very bountiful and delicious.
The plant auction will be
held May 6 at 7 o'clock with
auctioneer R ichard Lobb.
The speaker of the evening,
Miss Martha Velde Huis from
the Dundas Greenhouses, was
excellent, and left much food
for thought. She brought with
her many beautiful plants
from the greenhouses. They
have 20 greenhouses in
Dundas, so can supply just
about any plant. Everyone is
cordially invited to visit the
Veldhuis greenhouses and
wander through more than
two acres. They are open all
day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
every day but Sunday, and
admission is free.
Miss Martha spoke about
her plants, starting
alphabetically, and was so
clear cut in her descriptions
and care. As humans, no two
plants are alike. "Who can
make a flower? 1 can't. Can
you? Only God."
All the cacti plants seemed
like very special friends, and
she spoke laughingly of her
three old men with hoary
hair, and the dizzy dame). and
all like a sunny window.
She suggested when you
visit a hospital you take a
small plant, one rose, or a
small bouquet •you have
grown and loved from your
own garden. Exotic plants
taken as gifts seem out of
place in the small rooms, and
one patient complained it gets
all the attention from the
doctors and nurses. The Bible
begins with a garden and
ends with a garden.
Everyone leaving the hall
felt they had gained much in
the brief two hours - and
much that will not be
forgotten easily. Our sincere
thanks to Miss Martha Velde
Huis.
The door prizes were won
by Cecilia Edgar, Mrs.
Bentten Miller (Seaforth),
Winona Pipe, Esther
Jamieson, Charlie Nelson,
Mrs. Frank Phillips
(Seaforth), Mrs. Ruth Taylor,
Viola Lampman and Myrtle
Brisley.

soon. - Good organization
needs early registration, with
strong support, so parents

deadline for registration is
May 12.
There will be at least three
groupings for both girls and

Returning home from our
Easter vacation in the States
our new '77 Plymouth
developed engine trouble with
the result that my family and I
had to spend a night in a motel
before the car was fixed.
Since it was still under
warranty we were covered for
the repairs, but I've been
trying ever since to get
reimbursed for the towing
charges I had to pay, plus the
cost of the motel for my wife,
two kids and .myself.
Chrysler have turned me
down flat and I don't think this
is right.
A letter from Chrysler
Canada informs us that if our
reader will send them a copy
of the towing bill they will pay
this but definitely no motel!
