McNichol' is reported to have
told OPP officers in-
vestigating the murder of
Bernice Stewart, 46, of
Listowel, that the person who
murdered the woman was a
• prominent citizen of the town.
The Listowel Banner story
says the OPP denied talking
with Mrs. McNichol, as Mys.
McNichol had predicted they
would. Qver 150 people have
mt}de statements inthe
murder investigation that
keeps eight to 10 officers
working on the case each day.
Mrs. Stewart's partly
burned body was found on a
sideroad outside of Listowel.
She died as a result of a
broken neck and had been
beaten with fists of a blunt
instrument.
London police meanwhile,

the wheel of his cab outside a
Londbn recreation club by a

as a motive. Mr. Wheeler's
money changer was still
attached to the dash of his cab
and a briefcase was in the
front seat.
The Advance -Times also
carries a story of a museum
to open in the town sometime
in June. The Wingham and
District Heritage and
Historical Society is com-

that will occupy the second
floor of the former post office
building.
The museum will house
early -artifacts and
memorabilia pertaining to
