Mao, acts of kindness were carried out in the district and snowmc files came 'into good use to take supplies to the, shut-ins. and elderly people. Local `stores and Maxine's restaurant coroperated and many boxes of groceries and meals were delivered: . We are pleased to report that Mrs. Warner Andrews came home last Saturday. after being a pa tent in Clinton hospital for several weeks. Anyone wishing to take the spring 4-H project, Clothes for Leisure, 12 to 26 years old, please contact the local leaders, Mrs. Donald Cart- •wright, Mrs. John .Hildebrand, Miss Karen McClinchey or Mrs. Tom Cunningham. ' Mr. Robert Armstrong is a patient in University hospital, London where he underwent surgery on his knee. Mrs. Gordon Powell came home from Clinton hospital after being a patient there for several weeks. Mr. Donald Cartwright is a patient in University hospital, London. 4 • INTENDED FOR LAST WEEK • James G1otl'sher, chairman of the Community Memorial wHall Board presided for the annual meeting held last " Monday evening in the hall. A good attendance of Auburn and community residents was preSent and an interesting meeting was held. The minutes of the previous board meeting were accepted A as presented by the secretary Mrs. Donald Haines. Mrs. ' Haines presented the financial statement which is as follows.; Recipts: - Balance on hand, January 1,. 19/6 477.74; cash on hand 4.62; Hall rents 1961.00; Recreation Com- mittee 250.00; water rents 490.00; Grant East Wawanosh 150.00; Grant Women's Institute 100.00; New Year's Dance 1975 139.64; Dance • November 13, 1976 126.50 - Total $3699.50; Expenditures; - Ontario Hydro 279.29; Gulf Fuel 813.84; Wages Marie Caldwell 840.00; secretary -Mrs. Haines 50.00; Fred Lawrence -lights 441.16"; Trommers (supplies) 93.01; Robinson's (supplies) 74.84; Seers, floor wax -42.53; From Water to Gold book .0 100.00; garbage removal 19.00; A. Youngblut, furnace 49.15; Advertising dances 13.65; dance supplies 123.01; Sparling gas 22.67; W. •Collinson, cleaning pits 5.00; service charges 3.75; postage 7.50 - Total $3043.77 Mrs. Haines outlined the expenses for the two dances • stating that the New Year's dance, 1975 and said that $128.04 was the profit and the November 13th dance, the profit was $4.69. The Women's, Institute., donated to the hall: Grant 100.00; garbage box 5.00; electric fans 170.00; canner 11.12; tea towels 6.81 - Total $342.93. A discussion took place re the financial statement, which was accepted as read. The hall rents were set as -follows for 1977 : Banquets and receptions including kitchen, rent $50; receptions or dances with bar, $50; reception or family reunions without bar, $35; local meetings, $8.00. Mrs. Marie Caldwell was hired again as caretaker and Mrs. Donald Haines, secretary -treasurer. It was recommended by those present that the project of fixing the balcony of the hall so it could accommodate small meetings and something be done to cut down heating 'bills for the hall. _It was thought that it could accommodate euchre parties if it was fixed properly. Those present of the hall board were James Glousher, Warner Andrews, Kenneth Scott, John Jewitt, Reeve Hallett Twp.; Joe Hunking deputy -reeve, Hullett; Ralph Campbell, East Wawanosh; Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock, Women's Institute; Sandy Andrews, Recreation Committee. VILLAGE TRUSTEES The first meeting of the village trustees of the village of.Auburn was held in the post office with all present. Warner Andrews was elected chairman and Frank Raithby was hired as village clerk. A discussion regarding the snowploughing of the village s-treets and what might be done to keep the streets in better condition, took place. Mr. Warner Andrews was instructed' to interview the local county manager, Mr. Hendrik regarding this problem. A discussion took place regarding the best use present and future for the local fire engine. It . was suggested that local discussion be promoted and also efforts be made to get information from headquarters for this equipment at Woodstock. It was decided to ask Mrs. Wilfred • Sanderson to con- tinue as caretaker of the Library and 'Town hall as previously arranged. Wilfred Collinson was again hired to keep water tanks and town hall doors clear of snow. The clerk was instructed to write to rural Hydro Office, -Clinton and request a map of the street lights for the village.• Sandy Andrews was in- structed to get a large map of the village that there might be recorded on it the position of the street lights, water pipes, drains etc. It is hoped that local . citizens will • cooperate w thrthis project. It was felt that the County Planner might be of assistance_ for long range planning. The Clerk was - instructed to find out what was available and involved in this. The trustees composed of Warner Andrews, cliairm-an; Sandy Andf:ews and Kenneth Scott hope to !hold meetings the second Saturday of each month when local citizns could attend. EUCHRE WINNERS Prize winners at the weekly euchre party held on Tuesday , evening were: high lady, Mrs. Thomas Haggitt; low lady, Mrs. Thomas Jardin; high man, Robbie Plunkett; low man, Roy Daer; novely prize, Robert Armstrong. VESTRY MEETING St. Mark's Anglican Church held the annual vestry meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Haggitt. The Rev. Fred Carson opened the meeting with scripture reading and prayer.. Mrs. Thomas Haggitt was elected Vestry Clerk and read the minutes of the last annual meeting. Mr. Carson gave his report and James Towe, people's warden reported for the Wardens and thanked the congregation for their cooperation as his term of office had expired. Donald Cartwright was appointed People's Warden and Fred Lawrence (not present) had consented to be Rector's Warden. Mrs. John, Daer, church treasurer sent. .- her resignation and . it was ac- cepted with regret. Mrs. Robert Slater consented to be treasurer. Auditor is to be Thomas Johnston. James -Towe was elected delegate to Synod,. alternate delegate to• be Fred Lawrence. The church reports were studied and accepted. New business was discussed and plans were made for the Bishop's visit to the Parish on September II. • Mrs. Carson closed the meeting with' prayer and lunch was served by Mrs. Haggitt assisted by Mrs. Donald Cartwright.
