Seaforth curling news
If it wasn't welding,
waterpipes or weather, it
would have been something..
else to keep us from curling.
However, curling HAS
started ' this week and,
barring any unforeseen
problems, we hope ,,will
continue to the end of the
season.
Seaforth Curlers were not
inactive over the 'past
weekend however. Bob and
Sharon Wilson with Bill and
Marg Fleming attended the
Listowel Mixed'Spiel and in
reporting on their day, they
said they had a good time and
they made eight strangers
very happy — they lost their
last two games.

Figure skating dub news
Although this is the figure
skating column, headlines
this week should read
"Bantam hockey tournament
cancelled,' figure skating
classes will continue unin-
ter.cepted." (Who else but the
weatherman could cause the
hockey boys to submit to a
cancellation) .
'By the time yuu read this,
the results of the club's test
day, Wednesday:oF•ebruad 9,
will have been recorded.
Congratulations to those of
you who passed. To those who
didn't, remember to work
hard again for there's -always
another test day within ap-
proximately six weeks in
another arena in our territory
where you may try again.
Sometimes you have to make.
two or three runs at a difficult
' hill, so true in striving for
skating perfection.
Members of the club
watched with great interest,
the Canadian Figure Skating
Championships on TV on the
weekend.
Severalskaters from
western Ontario participated
did were winners or in the top
half of their classes. Some
skaters hail from Mitchell,
Sherri Baier, Lori Baier;
Seaforth, Lloyd Eisler;
Windsor, Kevin Hicks ;
London, Sherri and Denis
Pinner; and Wingham,
Blaine Moore and Carole
Wheeler, and best of all from
Hamilton, Ronnie Shaver.
You will remember Blaine
and Carole were our guest
skaters at our Winter Car-
nival show. They skated in
the novice pairs section
placing seventh out of a class
of about 14 couples. Their pro,
Mr, Bruce Brady, Bayfield,
was very pleased since this is
their first effort at the
Canadians. —by •Audrey
