The study took the form of a panel discussion on Cuba by Rev. McDonald. Alice Davidson, Ida Durnin and Alice Buchanan told about the largest island in the West Indies, about their hurricanes and food prices. Cuba is noted for sugar cane. The people of Cuba are striving for better education to become better leaders. A musical number was enjoyed when Laurel and Lisa Duizer sang, ac- companied by their mother Marjorie Duizer. June Fothergill gave a very interesting report on Huron County rally held at Dash- wood. >� 1+ John Lawson and ' Bob Jamieson played the electric guitar and sang as did Laurel and Lisa Duizer, who were accompanied by their mother. They also played a piano duet. Plans were made for a card party to begin on October 22 at 8:30 p.m. the same as last year. Come and bring your lunch. In charge will be Margaret Taylor, Vi Burns, Hattie Wood and Hattie Snell. The "Pathfinders" : Darlene Ulesselisk, Emmy Nonkes, Gina Datemh, Joanne Bakelaar, Anita Datema and Jo Ann Passchier sang some songs. A contest held for the grandmothers was won by Myrtle Fairservice and Nona Pipe. The president thanked all who had helped to make the evening a success. For expedition two, Mrs. Westerhout taught a new song. Attendance was taken with 19 members present. After the Explorer purpose, happy birthday was sung to Darlene Bunking, Elizabeth Lawson, Laurel and Lisa Duizer and Mrs. Westerhout. Last Saturday the church was decorated for thanksgiving by ,'the' Explorers. Darlene flunking and Lisa ' Duizer were chosen to be on the scripture and program for the next expedition. Jarvis con- ducted Baptismal service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday when Erin Rebecca Bonthron, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bevan Bonthron and Angelo Michelle Volland daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Volland were baptized. The choir, under the direction of Mrs. Malcom Dougall sang "Count Your Blessings". The flowers were placed in the Church in loving memory of the late Mrs. Roy A. MacDonald. The ladies of the church are holding a Bazaar on November 6th at 3 p.m. There will be a sale of baking, sewing and produce. Tea will be served. The Couple's Club will hold a bowling party, Sunday Oct. 24th from 2-4 p.m. They will return to Carmel Church for a Hallowe'en lunch. Families are welcome. - Mrs. Inez McEwen, wbo has beena patient in Seaforth Community Hospital for, several weeks following a fall at her home, was able to return to the home of her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith last week. In last week's paper- we incorrectly reported that land severences were granted to Aram Dermenjian, Dr. F.G. Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Reid by Clinton Town Council. Clinton council approved the severences and now that approval along with the land severence applications will be sent on to the Committee of Adjustment who in turn, will sets fit whether to grant the land severances or not. We apologize for the mix up and any emnbarrassment it may have caused. Chlselhurst UCW. The Thanksgiving meeting of the Chiselhurst UCW was held last Tuesday and was well attended. The president, Mars. Harold Parker read a poem "Little Boy Lost" followed by a hymn and prayer. Mrs. Harold Parsons presented the Worship taken from the 103rd Psalm on Thanksgiving. Mrs. Parker presided for the business. An invitation was accepted to meet with the Cromarty UCW and final arrangements were made for the Bazaar on Oct. 28th at 3 p.m. at Chiselhurst. Each member will bake a pie for the lunch booth 'when a sale -of articles from your attic will be auctioned off at Bonthron's warehouse on Oct. 30th. Proceeds going towards renovations to the manse. The offering was received and dedicated and Mrs. Vera Brintnell read a short poem and conducted a contest from Genesis. Mrs. Dick Taylor gave the topic from the study book on Cuba. The meeting closed with prayer and Mrs. Freida Boa and Mrs. Edward Stoneman were hostesses for the lunch. Court Constantine Court Constantine L1842 held their October meeting on the 14th in the hall. Business discussed was Halloween Party to be held on October 29th at 7:30 for all the neigh- bour children with the judging of costumes and film to be shown. Ladies Night will be held on November 1st at 8 p.m. with each member to bring four guests and two penny sale items. The dance is on November 6th at the Com- munity Centre Seaforth with music provided by the Country Entertainers. Tickets are available from mernbers.
