Constable Don Armstrong, one of Clinton's finest, places a ticket for ovdrtime parking on a car in downtown Clinton. The fine now is up to S2, since a by-law was passed in June. Colborne Township Misses Janet and Nancy Jo "12eynolds of Southfield Michigan and their grand mother Mrs. Joe Armstrong of Detroit came Friday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson Jim, Sheila Sharon and Bob. The girls remained for the weekend and Mrs. Armstrong returned home with her sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. Terence Hunter for the next three weeks. Mr. Patrick Nolan. Patrick and Shane 'of Toronto spent the weekend at their summer home in the village. Fred Runangina of Nairobi and Sally Kenchi of Tokyo Japan. 4, nsic studen On July IQ. 17 and 18 students of Huron Music Studios, Clinton, under the duction of Paul and Dianne Stevenson participated in the Central Music League Festival held at .the University of Guelph. This was the first com- petition that the students have been involved in and all of them have beentaking lessons for under two years.. The results of the festival were: class .1B accordion solos; Dean Daer. Mellaney Burrs and Judy Baker all receiving first class with Gerda Brand obtaining the adjudacators award. In the class 3B accordion solos, Sandra Wadell took the adjudacators award and in the 3D class, Jane Christensen was in the first class. In the class I accordion duets, Dean Daer and Gerda Brand won the adjudacators award. In the spanish guitar solos, Brad James was in the first class of the IB section. In s 111 (:0: class IC Allan Bakker came in the second class winnings and in class 3A Neill Elliott took the adjudacators award. In clan$ '38 Rick Elliott in the first class and in class 28 Cathy Gibbings also came in the first class. Danny 'Tyn- dall. The classC spanish guitar ensemble, under the name of "The .Magnificent Seven; .: Neil and Rick Elliott, Cathy Gibbings, Danny Tyndall. Elizabeth Gibson, Judy Carter and Carol Burrs took the championship award. Bible school at St. Joe's One hundred and fifty children attended a summer religion school during the week of July 19 to 23, at Sacred Heart school. Wingham. They came from: St. Joseph's church. Clinton: St, Michael's. Blyth: Sacred Heart. Wingham: St. Ambrose, Brussels, and Sacred Heart. Teeswater The studefits were led to a- better appreciation of the value of prayer. and a deeper knowledge of their faith In addition to the learning they did. there were various ac, tivities, e.g., arts and crafts. and sports. Another im- portant outcome of the week was that new friendships were formed with others from other towns. The teaching was all on a volunteer basis. Sisters Noella. Carmelita, St. Pius. Eileen Foran and Edmund came from the Sisters of St. Joseph : Fathers Nolan and Flavin were there: Ron. a seminarian from London, and mothers and teenagers. all helped out as well.
