Gregor McGregor.
Brucefield, and his wife Betty
married 53 years were the
longest married couple and
David and Debbie Patton of
Mount Elgin. 22 days. the
shortest.

McGregor wore the same hat
and dress she wore on her
wedding•day on April 2). 1.923.
For Debbie Patton wearing
her wedding gown. and
David. the vows were most
familiar. They were married
on June 12.
While friends and families
watched. the couples renewed
their Marriage Com-
mitments. A number of
brides " wore their wedding
gowns. even if the fit wasn't
quite the same.
The Church isn't the same
building in which the
McGregors : Ross Scott and
Alice (Rattenbury) married
51 years: Bob McGregor and
Babe (Chapman) married 45
years: Bill Bell and Dorothy
(Robins) 44 years; Harold
and Nelda (Robins). 44 years
and Vic Taylor and Jean

couples married after that,
however. That building was
destroyed by fire in 1971.
But when the service was
was over and Mr. McGregor.
now $1. walked down the aisle
clutching a commemorative
certificate in one hand and
the hand of his wife, now 83, in
the other, he grinned like a
groom again.
A wedding luncheon was
served in the Church hall to
the special guests and all who
attended the service.
Last week's games for
Goderich township softball
teams were almost com-
pletely rained out. However,
the junior girls managed to
sandwich their games bet-
ween showers.
The junior "A" team is now
manged by Evelyn Bell and
Anne Bell. who quit the senior
team in order to help out with
the juniors. They played
Stanley, winning 23-14. Stars
of the game were: Brenda
Harris, with two double
plays: and Marie Brand. with
a homerun.
Jan Ginn still needs help for
coaching the "B" team.
Please, is there anyone who
could help? They lost to
Colborne 15-13 but are trying
to gain some ground. Sisters
Teresa and Sherry Duff are
pitcher and catcher.
Monday night. July 5. Steve

an excellent game with
Colborne at Benmiller, losing
9-4. Goderich• Township had
trouble surpassing the skills
of Colborne's tough pitchers.

submissions, both oral and written, from local government representatives. prop-
erty taxpayers and all otherinterested parties. concernrny the proposals that have
been put forward by the Government of Ontario as a means of estabirsing a new
system of property taxation based on market value asssment:
This meeting is one of a series which the Commission is 'conducting throughout
Ontario this summer and fall, before submitting its recommendations to the govern-
ment.. .
