home - wedding of John
Vanderwal, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Stanley Vanderwal and
Dianne Agnes Baird,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Baird.
The couple were joined in a
double ring ceremony by
Rev. E. S. Stephens of
Brucefield.
The bride, given in
marriage by her father, wore
a pare silk crystatet gown
imported from England. The

dinal sleeves, empire waist
and a long, full skirt. A long
chapel train fell from the
w,,,istline. It was trimmed all
aiound with lace imported
from France. She wore a
matching bridal hat trimmed
with lace and satin ribbon
with long streamers. Her
headdress. a Juliet Caplet.
was trimmed with lace and
tiny seeded pearls held with a
two tier pure silk illusion veil
and edged with lace matching
her caplet.
Sister-in-law of the bride,
Janet Baird of Sarnia was-
matron
asmatron of honor. She wore a
Swiss dot ' gown of daisies in
blue over top of blue trice,
with a wreath of fresh daisies
and baby's breath around her
head and carried a matching
bouquet of the same.
The bridal attendants were
Arlene Vanderwal and Gail
Vanderwal both of Goderich.
They wore identical gowns as
the matron of honor and their
colours were yellow and pink.
The groomsman was Jerry
Haird of Sarnia and the
ushers were Orrin Baird of
Oshawa and John Vanderwal
of Sarnia. The three
ringbearers were Orrin
Bryden .Baird of Oshawa.

setting of a pretty spring
wedding on Saturday, June
5th when Anita Teresa,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Rene Brochu, Clinton became
the bride of Paul Steven, son
of Mr. and Mrs. • Bruce
-Bartliff, Clinton: •

mums decorated the church.
Father Hardy conducted the
double -ring ceremony with
Eugene Bradley at the organ
and James Doherty as soloist.
The " bride, given in
marriage by her father, chose
a floor -length gown of nylon
sheer over --white taffeta.
Satin ribbon emphasized the
high neckline, yoke and
waist. Her floor -length veil
was held in place with a Juliet
cap, She carried a crescent
shaped bouquet of yellow
sweetheart roses, white
daisies and blue artificial
cornflower.
Maid of honour was Mrs.
Sandra Burns, Clinton. She
wore a floor -length halter
dress and matching jacket of
white polyester chiffon ac-
cented with • small blue
flowers. She carried an
umbrella -shaped wicker
basket . filled with an
arrangement of blue artificial
cornflowers •and baby's
breath. •
Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Diane Thompson, Toronto,
Miss Louise Brochu and Miss
Elaihe Brochu, both of
Clinton, all sisters of the
bride. They. wore gowns
identical to the maid of
honour and also carried
wicker baskets.
Groomsman was Peter
Cameron, friend of the
groom. Ushers were Don
Bartliff, Clinton, brother of
the groom, Dave Bartliff,
Clinton, brother of the groom
and Greg Burns, Clinton,
friend of the groom:
The reception followed at
the Clinton Legion Hall where
the bride's mother received
guests. She wore a mauve
chiffon dress with a corsage
of Mauve miniature car-
nations. The groom's mother
chose a mint green sleeveless
chiffon gown with a polyester
satin jacket. Her corsage'was
a white gardenia.
The groom's grandmother,
Mrs. H. Bartliff, was also in
attendance at the wedding.
She chose a brown and beige
polyester chiffongown with
matching coat. Her corsage
was deep pink carnations.
An ipeh reception con-
tinued at the Legion Hall. For•
a wedding trip to Niagara
Falls, the bride donned an
orange pantsuit and a cor-
sage of yellow carnations.
The couple has taken up
residence at 130 North Street,
Clinton.
The Open House at the
Home during Senior Citizens
Week was quite successful
with 390 senior citizens
registering.
The residents appreciated
the visitors very much as it
gave them an opportunity to
see many of their friends.
Many thanks to the Huron-
view Auxiliary who were
responsible for the
'registration and to all of the
residents, and staff rho
helped in so many ways
during the week.
The Brussels Friendship
-Club had dinner at the Home
on- Friday and joined , the
residents for an afternoon of
Bingo. •
Fifty • members of the
Seaforth Happy Citizens Club
visited the Home on Saturday
and after dinner sponsored an
afternoon of games. Mrs.
Elizabeth Scott won the prize
for ttie eldest lady euchre
player and John McCallum
was the winner for the men.
Mr. Dick Roorda led the
Sunday evening song service

sponsored by the Clinton
Christian Reformed Church.
The Clinton Centennial
Band played for a concert •on
the lawn on Family Night.
The weather' cleared just in
time and many def the
residents were able 'to be
outdoors while those who
were inside were able to see
and hear the band from the'
west windows. Mrs. Storey is '
the new leader of the band
and wish her every success in
this very helpful project in
any community.
