(Nw photo) email anxiously awaits rday to igyeport on arena's tt tu e P r Any mention of the Ministry of labor in con- . ection with an arena naturally frightens people. That's why Hensall residents are anxiously awaiting an engineering ,report on their.arena. Although they spent almost 10,000 in the past two years reinforcing the structnre, t ere is little hope of the arena being given ,a com- pletely clean bill of health by the ministry, which has elOsed down over 60 arenas in Standards were passed earlier this year. Even arenas that have just been built in. the- past two years, Such as the one in - Howick Township are found to be below Standard. Hensall was notified that an ngineering study was required a few weeks ago and the firm of B. M. Ross' & Associates, Goderich were hired t undertake the study. Ken Dunn. an engineer with the Goderich firm. said last 'Week that they have corn - 0100;i their field studies on the arena and are now doing :in analysis of the findings at their office. He indicated a report. in - eluding an estimate for any hanges that have to be made in the facility. should be available to Mensal' council next Week. if that report is then sub- „rnitted to the ministry. the fate of the arena will be decided very shortly. Dunn said there was little doubt but what some repairs would be required. although he added he had no idea at the present how extensive they may be. He explained that the new regulations pertaining to arenas were not just for snow 't and wind loads on roofs. He said there were new stan- dards for floor loads as well .CAROLE SOUTHERLAND Office Manager Clinton Branch Uric, Motor League Suggests...
