Although no one is sure lust
what season this is, what with
the heat wave one week, -and

And- so the Clinton

diamond this Sunday at 1:30
p.m. to fire their first balls of
the new year.
The Juveniles, who won the
all -Ontario championship in

such a large undertaking, so
we are asking all newispapers

team, and all are hoping for a
strong team again this year.
Many of last year's players
will be returning, coo -coach
Kennedy said, but the club is
also looking for some fresh
talent.
• Although Kennedy couldn't
gree a start up time for the
Juveniles he said they would
likely face teams from
Kincardine, Crediton, M it-
chelL and Chesley.
There is also still some
doubt as to whether Clinton
will play in the WOAA "C" or
"D" league this year, as the
classifications have been
changed.

Local producer defends eggs
A local egg producer.
Richard Kootstra of RR 5,
Clinton found some facts
which dispute recent rotten
egg stories. His information
came from a farm magazine.
The magazine states that
four prestigious institutions
will help put eggs in their
rightful place in the family
diet.
The University of ` Min-
nesota said that cholesterol
and heart disease have no
correlation. The university
tested 17 thousand hospital
patients for four and one half
years. One half of the group
were fed a normal diet, the
other half received a diet with
14 percent lower cholesterol.
The findings. were that
although one half did have a
satisfactory decrease in blood
cholesterol. there was not the
slightest hint of benefit.

The Mayo Clinic did a three
year study of 2,500 children
aged 6 to 16. The findings
showed that there was no
significant difference bet-
ween levels of cholesterol in
their blood and what they eat.
At UCLA a team of doctors
gave one group of younger
Teen in their 20's two eggs a
day for eight ' weeks. The
middle age group ate one
egg every other day. After a
two week interval with no
eggs, both groups were given
blood tests. There was no
significant difference in
average cholesterol levels in
either group.
A professor at the
University of Missouri
recently completed a test on
125 men for a period of six
months and concluded that
eating one egg per' day did not
make any difference in the
cholesterol levels.
So eat your eggs. Mr.
Kootstra says.
