The protest by the Clinton twain, Arose when a penalty for an illegally curved stick, belonging to an Essex team member, was not called at the time of the infraction. Last Monday night in Essex, for the Mustangs, it was like playing a hockey game at the zoo. Although the . 'Stangs played one heck of a fine game, they dropped a hotly contested decision. The Essex fans (animals) constantly fired rotton eggs, popcorn, marbles and other - garbage on the playing surface, as well as at the Clinton players, management and fans. The Essex players on the other hand, ran around throwing cheap shots at the Mustangs throughout the game, as they weren't allowed to throw garbage. Essex opened the scoring at the three minute mark of the first period on a goal by Keith Crowder (last year's first round draft choice of the Oshawa Generals). No wonder they (Oshawa General's) never got to the Memorial Cup. Two minutes later, Dan Colquhoun scored Clinton's first goal to even the score at one apiece to end the first period. In the second period, Clinton scored the only goal on a perfect passing play by Brian Kennedy to set Paul Kelly up for the marker. However, the 73's battled back In the third period and at the two minute mark, Don Chittle evened the score and three minutes later Bowling Green, Ohio, hockey student Randy Schuchard scored the winner. inute f play, e net empty nd both teams playing four aside, the Stangs buzzed , around the Puma net, but to no avail. Clinton netminder Dean Ryan played an outstanding game, coming up with his finesteffort throughout, the series. Ryan robbed the 73's time and timeagain making 3hrilliant saves. After the game was over and Dan Colquhoun had retkeeMike Quinlan with a minor headache, a near riot broke out, and worst of Essex coach Dave Prpich used obscene language and gestures towards the Clinton players and management, showing Essex's true colours, one tends to think. A Tuckersmith resident's application for an apartment in an OHC unit for senior citizens planned for Hayfield was turned down because the Township isn't participating in the building. Reeve Elgin Thompson argued that people who are able to pay full rent in a senior citizen's apartment should be able to, whether their township is par- ticipating in the unit or not. Tuckersmith is advertising along with Stanley Township that they are conducting a - survey on the need for a joint apartment unit, but clerk Jim McIntosh said he had only received two calls asking for questionaires. Deputy Reeve Ervin Sillery said—the ad reads as if questionaires will be sent to all residents over 65.
