and the Ministry, throughout
the province. .
In accordance with the
increased popularity of cross-
country skiing in Ontario, the
1975-76 program hasbeen
extended to , include both
snowmobile and cross-
country ski trails.
This year funds will not be
provided for the development
of any new trails. Instead the
program provides assistance
for the maintenance and
grooming , - of existing
snowmobile andcross-
country ski trails.
Provincial assistance is
available to clubs, con-
servation authorities and
municipalities in several
farms; .�
- re"ct" gruts are being
made available ;dor the
maintenanceran grooming of
existing_nowmobile and
cross-country ski trails.
Those clubs or agencies that
are in receipt of grants must
--opentheir trails to the public.
- As long as the supply lasts,
trail signs are, being provided
free of charge by the Ministry
to those clubs or agencies who
apply for them.
- Grooming equipment . is
available for loan to area
clubs for the maintenance of
their trails, These clubs trust
have an. insurance policy to
cover any damage done to the
machine, property damage or
personal injury.
,The total provincial
program this year involves
$500,000. of which the
Wingham District was
allocate4 $16,000. for
snowmobile trails and $5,000.
for cross-country ski. trails.
Five snowmobile clubs have
applied for a portion of this
money through grants.
There were no applications
,,204. received from clubs or
agencies interested in .cross-
country skiing. The Ministry
is maintaining • one
snowmobile trail and , two
cross country ski trails ons
public land with a portion of
the above monies. These are
the Culross Snowmobile Trail
and Falconer Cross Country
Ski Trail, both near Wingham
and the Hullett Cross Country
Ski Trail near Clinton.
