IDB available in area
The Industrial Development
Bank is trying to make its
facilities better known and
more readily available in the
Goderich area.
An experienced represen-
tative of IDB, ' Mr. N.G.W.
Never, has, recently'been
assigned the Specific respon-
sibility of handling financing
proposals from the Goderich
territory. He will be operating
out of the Stratford district
office, which administers the
IDB programs in Perth and
Huron Counties.
In the above capacity, Mr.
Peever will conduct pre -
advertised visits to, Goderich
(on the second Tuesday of each
month) for the purpose of,
mking IDB's firaticial and
advisory services available to
local businesses.
Mr. Peever will also be in the
•area several times monthly on
an informal basis, to conduct
follow-up credit studies as well
_as to_ respond to requests for
adv -ice on the bilikii-futierniiii
from local financial in-
stitutions. chartered ac-
countants and municipal of-
ficials on behalf of their clients:
The IDB, established in 1944
as a suffiidiary of the Bank of
Canada, makes loans to new,or
existing businesses of all types
for a variety of purposes. While
there are no limits on loan
anwunts. almost 80 percent of
the bank's loans are for $50.006
or less, reflecting., the bank's
, special focus on Providing
assistance to smaller
businesses, where the proposal
is sound and financing is not
available elsewhere on
reasonable terms and—con.
ditions in keeping with the
needs of the operation.
In addition to financial
assistance, IDB is issuing a
series of helpful broehiares on
small business management
which are available, on

New justices appointed/ -4.4s-,
The Ontario Attorney
General's office last week
announced the appointment of
two new justices of the peace
for Huron County.
Gordon Ferris and Karen/
Sturdy, both of Goderich. were
appointed to their new positions
last Friday.. The position was
left vacant following the May 19
death of John Sturdy, who
served as justice of thee peace
for Huron County for 10 years.
Mr. Ferris, 59, is a 24 year
veteran of the OPP and worked
for 12 years out of the Goderich
detachment. He served as court
officer, at the Huron County
courtliduse for the past 10
years. He retired from the OPP
on Aug. 31.
